Adopting the expression,”seeing the forest from the trees”, is not just a euphemism to garner another’s attention. Its essence lies in ones ability to discern surrounding dangers, to ultimately save oneself, ones family and ones nation, even if some signals are not readily apparent. 

As such, uncomfortable questions for (seemingly) comfortable Americans must be addressed, even if doing so spoils the mood. Sorry. But another saying,”ignorance is bliss”, is only okey dokey if living in ones own dream world barely affects others. However, when ones penchant for veering away exacts monumental costs, the price of ones self-imposed ignorance is simply too high to pay.

Besides, the mountain of evidence, regarding the dangers to the Republic’s edifice, is too high to ignore, so starting herein makes perfect sense. Use this blog as a springboard… verily pleased, grateful to be able to do the heavy lifting…to be of service.

10 January 2013:  The warning signs of a tyrannical takeover of our Constitutional Republic have been flashing red for some time now and are now reaching a fever pitch. Despite the flashing signs, the clamor of the alarms and the cries of the watchmen, most Americans of this era remain in denial or have been rendered intellectually catatonic by busily chasing immediate gratification in the form of the newest version of the iPhone, iPad, or whatever “i” device will satisfy their ADHD addled intellect.

Others have simply chosen to adhere to a normalcy bias that is continuously fed by the familiar faces and voices of political pundits who remain dedicated to the lie of the right-left, Republican-Democrat paradigm of American politics, unwilling or unable to look at the larger picture for fear of being shamed by accusations of being part of a conspiracy fringe. Instead, these pundits would rather ignore the lie and squander their ability to make a difference, to educate and inform others of the dangers of the lie they know exists.

We must realize that we are not witnessing the fundamental change of America as represented by the mindless mantra of the Obama campaign, but something much deeper, much more nefarious, and something that will not be rectified through the ballot box. As uncomfortable as it is, what we face cannot and will not wait for the next general election.

Actions have consequences, but so does inaction.

We are living in a time in history where some will rise to be held in high esteem as heroes in history books that have yet to be written, and victims who never saw their unfortunate status coming or were fooled into believing that things are not as bad as some make them out to be. The former will suffer greatly by selfless acts performed to save what previous generations have fought to preserve, while the latter will remain complicit by their cluelessness and catatonic in ignorance that will be anything but blissful.

The fuse that will ignite one of the most turbulent times in American and global history has been lit and now burns with incredible speed. It’s ignition is neither an accident nor does it originate from good intent, but a deliberate act by a “deluded elite” advancing an agenda that is so breathtakingly evil that it defies all rationality.

Hanlon’s Razor does not apply

There is a familiar adage known as Hanlon’s Razor that states “[N]ever attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.” Unfortunately, too many people have chosen to believe that the events we are seeing, including all of the related consequences, are due to the incompetence of those who have been elected and appointed to lead our nation. This is particularly evident by those who continue to purvey the defunct notion of the right-left, Republican-Democrat paradigm of American politics, and the people who follow them.

The Agenda

We are not witnessing incompetence, but the fulfillment of an agenda generations in the making. A century ago our Republic experienced a coup in the form of a monetary takeover through the creation of the Federal Reserve, followed by a consolidation of power through the IRS. We were slowly being led into a system of global governance by the same international banking cabal that exists today. Yet, too few understand the larger picture.

Over a half-century ago, Senator Joe McCarthy was vilified by trying to warn Americans that our government was being infiltrated by Communists. Much like today, his warnings went unheeded, and the infiltration of the Communist element into America thrived. History books have been not only been unkind, but incorrect, as we are bearing witness today to the very threat of which he warned. In fact, documents and testimony related to his findings were found to have been inexplicably removed from the national archives. Not in the 1950′s, but as late as the 1990′s. The timing of such removal is no accident.

The Communist infiltration combined with the Islamic infiltration, the Balkanization of America through our open borders and lax immigration enforcement, and numerous other policies and practices antithetical to the survival of our Republic have been embraced and advanced by both political parties to bring us to the point we find ourselves today. We are on the verge of a civil war, exactly as warned by my source inside the DHS last spring.

This civil war is designed to divide America, to soften us and ultimately destroy us from within. United, our Republic poses an insurmountable impediment of the implementation of a global society rooted in Communism and disguised as social progressivism. The methods of implementation are not secret. They are outlined in part by the Cloward-Piven strategy, and well documented by Carroll Quigley, a god of the Clinton power structure. At the base of the agenda exist the Fabian Socialists, Karl Marx. Antonio Gramsci, and the Frankfort School of neo-Marxist interdisciplinary social theory.

Bitter clingers in the cross-hairs

Today, we find ourselves at the precipice of a tyrannical takeover and the complete destruction of our Republic, best illustrated by the talk of disarming the American populace.

The assertion is that the it’s for the children when, in fact, the children are being used as political capital to advance the political agenda of American disarmament, loss of liberty, sovereignty, and the rights bestowed on our Republic by God as enumerated by our Constitution.   Notice how there is a war not only against gun owners, but a parallel war against the very Judeo-Christian principles on which this country was founded.

Today, we are facing a crisis of epic proportions where you will have to choose a side. Will you be the one who stands bravely and alone before a column of tanks, or will continue on your quest for instant gratification?

Once again, they include Professor Louis Rene Beres (who resides in the U.S.), Professor Paul Eidelberg and Dr. Martin Sherman – adinakutnicki.com/about/. For the record, most of this blogger’s “go to” contacts hail from outside the academic community, and for good reason.

Be that as it may, Israel is entering its most perilous juncture in recent history, and that is saying much, for a nation always on the brink. With Iran close to attaining nuclear-armed status (PM Netanyahu attached Israel’s fate to Washington’s dictates, but never mind…); with the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood Mafia ascendant all over the Mid East; and with the Hamas/PA Fatah terror junta embedded within our heartland, Israel requires an absolute steady pair of hands to guide the ship of state.

Thereby,”Trapped” is an understatement, regarding where Israel finds itself.

Israel is trapped, trapped in lies which no Israeli prime minister and no Knesset Member—indeed, not even aspirants for the dubious honor of becoming an MK—dares expose, without bringing down the political structure of this cockamamie state.  Since Israelis are about to form, if I am not mistaken, another government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, allow me to repeat what I have previously revealed about Israel’s political leaders.

Shortly after making aliya to Israel in August 1976, I was asked by my friend General Chaim Laskov (z”l), a former IDF Chief of General Staff, to meet with Shimon Peres, then Minister of Defense under the Labor-led government of Yitzhak Rabin. The American presidential election was two months away, and Laskov wanted me to share my thoughts on the subject with the Defense Minister.

Mr. Peres and I met in his Knesset office. He was accompanied by his confidant, Yehoshafat Harkabi, a Hebrew University professor of political science and former head of military intelligence.  Toward the end of a 50-minute meeting, I was asked by Peres: “What do you think will be Israel’s main problem in the United States after the November presidential election?”  I replied: “To counter the Arab slogan of ‘self-determination for the Palestinian people.’”  To my astonishment, Professor Harkabi responded by saying “That’s irrelevant.”

I was astounded because Harkabi should have known that the Arab slogan of “self-determination for the Palestinian people” provides the government of the United States with a democratic pretext for appeasing Arab dictatorships linked to American corporate interests in the Middle East, especially in the Persian Gulf. Surely Harkabi was aware of the two-fold fraud in that Arab slogan. Inasmuch as he himself had written that Islam is a “combatant,” “expansionist,” and “authoritarian” creed, it should have been obvious to him that Islam, both in theory and in practice, utterly rejects the democratic principle of self-determination.[1] Indeed, at the time of our meeting he was on record as saying that an Arab Palestinian homeland is “a euphemistic equivalent for the liquidation of Israel” (p. 473).[2]

As for the claim that the Arabs residing in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza comprise a distinct “Palestinian people,” this has ever been an Arab hoax.[3]  Harkabi, a reputed expert on the Middle East, surely knew that there are no ethnic and religious differences whatever between the Arabs in question and their brethren in Jordan or even in Israel for that matter. [As Newt Romney, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives admitted, the Palestinians are an “invented people” whose purpose, as any candid observer would see, is to annihilate the people of Israel. No Israeli Prime Minister has had the courage to say this, and if he did, it would be tantamount to accusing his predecessors since the 1993 Israel-PLO Agreement of criminal negligence if not treason. Israel is trapped in a litany of lies.

If proof is needed, a few days after meeting with Peres I was asked by the Defense Ministry to speak with his political adviser, Asher Ben Natan, a former ambassador to France and to Germany.  During the course of our conversation I asked Mr. Natan: “What do you think is Israel’s main problem?”  He answered:  “We can’t lie as well as the Arabs.” To this I responded:  “Then why not tell the truth?” The answer appears in the previous paragraph.

Israeli politicians persist in this deadly charade. Have you heard any of today’s candidates for Knesset membership say in unambiguous language that peace with the Palestinians is a delusion or a self-serving lie? Here is a related prevarication.

Mr. Netanyahu (like Shimon Peres) believes, or would have us believe, that Israel can buy the Arabs, can make them bourgeois democrats. Just give them the means of enjoying the accoutrements and luxuries of middle class Americans ad peace will follow. This crypto-Marxist panacea infects capitalists well as socialists. Materialism trumps religion. The mentality of Esav is quite prevalent among Israeli politicians who look upon Islam with contempt.

But these Israelis ignore the fact that the self-styled Palestinians, who lie so well, and who tell Jews ready to believe them that for $5,000 dollars they would leave Eretz Israel—these Arabs are but a minute fraction of a billion and more Muslims whose leaders are committed to Israel’s annihilation, and who thrive by demonizing the Jewish state if only to redirect the hatred and grievances of their own people.

Even some ambitious religionists are trapped in lies.”

Israelis will go to the polls this coming Tuesday, despite all the above dangers. Therefore, Professor Eidelberg”s analysis is more than relevant to Israel’s future. Dare this blogger suggest, even to nations beyond its borders.

Most significantly, who among the leadership will stand up, to finally expose the “lie of all lies”? Is there a statesman among the bunch? The jury is still out. Jewish nationalists – religious and secular alike – are (impatiently) waiting.

Yet many still have the audacity, the sheer brazenness, to posit: the POTUS means well, albeit he is misguided by others, or some such balderdash! Newsflash: he knows EXACTLY what he is doing, and where he is heading.

“On January 11, a few hundred French troops and a handful of fighter jets and gunships launched a campaign against Islamist terrorists in Mali, a West African desert vastness larger than Texas and California combined. This former French colony appealed to Paris for aid to throw back a mixed al Qaeda-rebel advance on the capital, Bamako.

But France, no more than the US, had learned from the Afghanistan War that Al Qaeda cannot be beaten by aerial warfare – certainly not when the jiahdists are highly trained in special forces tactics and backed by highly mobile, well-armed local militias, armed with advanced anti-aircraft weapons and knowledgeable about conditions in the forbidding Sahara.

They are led by Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb – AQIM; the West African jihadist MUJAO; and the Somali al-Shabaab which is linked to Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula – AQAP. Together, they are threatening to execute one by one the 10 or eleven French hostages they are holding as part of their revenge on France.
The French declared their mission to be to dislodge the Islamists from an area larger than Afghanistan in the north, including the principal towns of Timbuktu, Gao and Kidal. Without several thousand special forces’ troops on the ground, this is just a pipedream.
The disaffected Touareg tribes are supporting al Qaeda against the French as part of their drive for independence. Their added value is the training in special forces’ tactics some 1,500 Touareg fighting men and their three officers received from the US.  The US originally reserved them as the main spearhead of a Western Saharan multi-tribe campaign to eradicate al Qaeda in North and West Africa.
Instead, the Sahel tribesmen followed the Touareg in absconding to Mali with top-quality weapons for desert warfare and hundreds of vehicles from US and ex-Libyan military arsenals.

This major setback for US administration plans and counter-terror strategy in Africa tied in with Al Qaeda’s assassination of US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three of his staff in Benghazi last September. Because the United States held back from direct US military action in both cases, Qaeda has been allowed to go from strength to strength and draw into its fold recruits from Mali’s neighbors. They are tightening their grip on northern Mali and have imposed a brutal version of Islam on its inhabitants, putting hundreds to flight.

France stepped in when al Qaeda drove south to extend its rule to all parts of Mali and pose a terrorist threat to Europe.”

Anyone who dares to explore, or otherwise expose, Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s crazier than a loon’s convoluted history is relegated to kooksville and the fringes of “polite” society. How dare they attempt an omerta. Who are they, the Mafia? Besides, this blogger is very familiar with the left’s tactics, having walked its tightrope many times. It becomes a necessary evil, while (business) networking within the confines of the upper east and west sides of New York City. Better to be a fly on the wall.

So when one becomes familiar with their playgrounds, the intimidation factor recedes. Therefore, digging is so much easier because it involves sifting through the left’s garbage. And if any of the poohbahs believe they will stop the hunt, they are indeed delusional.

‘John Brennan – The CIA – Zbigniew Brzezinski – Columbia University and Obama’

“While attending Occidental University, 1979 – 81′, young Barack Obama meets a former Jimmy Carter administration official Zbigniew Brzezinski.  Brzezinski is a key CIA asset and expert on Russia.   He later becomes a mentor, and then much later a foreign policy advisor to President Elect Obama.

Obama is friends with three Pakistani college roommates, muslims, Mohammed Hasan Chandio, Wahid Hamid, and Indian Vinai Thummalapally.   In the summer of 1981 Obama travelled with his friends to Pakistan.

Brezinski was deeply involved in the U.S. aspects to support Osama Bin Laden against the Russians in Afghanistan.   Pakistan was the base of operations against the Russians in support of the Mujahadeen.  Simultaneous to this time Brezinski is in Pakistan / Afghanistan, so is John Brennan as part of his CIA duty.

BEAR WITH ME – Obama goes to Pakistan in the summer of 1981 and then for some reason there is a gap in his historical references and timeline.  He does not reappear until the fall of 1982 attending Columbia (?) – or so the story is told, where he graduated in May of 1983.   (This timeline has always been a thorn in my psyche of reconciliation).

Obama and Pakistani friend Hasan ChandooThe trip to Pakistan was unexpectedly notedin an April 2008 fundraiser .  We wrote about it HERE.    Just two weeks before this speech and surprise announcement of his 1981 visit to Pakistan, employees of John Brennan  (who would become Obama’s terror chief) were caught tampering with Obama’s passport files. It should be noted  that “Obama’s top terrorism and intelligence adviser, John O. Brennan, heads a firm that was cited in March 2008 (just before this April fundraiser) for breaching sensitive files in the State Department’s passport office, according to a State Department Inspector General’s report released July 2009.  On April 19th the key figure Lt. Quarles Harris Jr., 24, who had been cooperating with a federal investigators, was found slumped dead inside a car.

However, against the backdrop of events at the time in 1981 Pakistan/Afghanistan, andundefinedagainst the backdrop of both Brennan and Brzezinski being in the same area, at exactly the same time, things are adding up.

Again, consider Obama reportedly walked away from a full ride scholarship at Occidental the summer of 81′ never to return.  Instead he turns up, on paper only, at Columbia University the fall of 82′.   But no-one, I mean NO-ONE has ever noted him ever having attended there – Consider:

1) “Columbia University will not divulge whether the “alleged” diploma issued was in the name of Barry Soetoro or Barack Hussein Obama. No public record exists regarding the diploma.”

2) “Obama alleges he attended Columbia in 1982, 1983. But, the investigators have been UNABLE to turn up a single shred of written documentation for the years 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984 that show where Obama appeared on a school roster, register, faculty memo, bulletin board, school awards, dean’s list; where Obama’s name appeared in a yearbook, club record, fraternity record, extra curricular activity member roster, student newspaper, student radio or TV activity; where Obama appeared in any records as a worker, employee, laborer in or about Columbia University; where Obama enrolled in any sports activity or program.”

3) “As a graduating senior in 1983 he does not appear in any Political Science (his major) or Graduating Class yearbook or invitation records.”

4) “There is absolutely no documentation of any kind to show Obama attended, lived, worked or played at Columbia University during the investigated 4 years.”

5) “Interviewed professors, college employees, students (who were at Columbia during the years in question) have failed to turn up a single person that can remember Obama. This is irrefutable evidence. Think about your own situation if Obama had attended your college? A “now-famous” person went to your school? Many would be able to say, “Of course I remember.” At Columbia, not a single person has been able to say he or she remembers Obama.”   (link)

Obama meets CIA Brzezinski, who is exiting the term of Jimmy Carter, and is frequenting Afghanistan.   Brzezinski is a mentor to Obama.  John Brennan is in Afghanistan too.    The support of the Mujahadeen against Russia is job #1.

Obama takes a trip to Pakistan/Afghanistan with Pakistani friends who happen to be from government families, and are also not aligned with sympathies to Russia, and supportive ideologically, of the Mujahadeen.  Go figure?

And, um, well, additionally…. how did young ‘impoverished’ Barack afford such global travel?  Those ain’t exactly cheap airline tickets, no?  Or was someone else covering the costs and subsequent expenses?

Is this where Brzezinski, Brennan and Obama’s paths cross?   Using the connections of Obama who is travelling with Wahid Hamid and staying in Karachi withMohammed Hasan Chandoo’s family, and visiting Hyderabad as well.

We know Obama also made friends with Chairman of Senate, Muhammadmian Soomro,who said that in Pakistan he [Obama] came to know about Sunni and Shia sects.   According to the report of Larry Rohter of April 10, 2008, in The New York Times, the Obama campaign staff, when questioned about the revelation of Obama’s 1981 trip to Karachi, stated:

“Mr. Obama visited Pakistan in 1981, on the way back from Indonesia, where his mother and half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, were living. He spent ‘about three weeks’ there, Mr. Obama’s press secretary, Bill Burton, said, staying in Karachi with the family of a college friend, Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, but also traveling to Hyderabad, in India.”

We know the three week story was BS.   We know because it was perhaps the most important revelation never discussed by the media:

Where was Obama from the time he left Occidental to travel to Pakistan via Indonesia, to the time he entered Columbia – Which is Documented and Verified to be September 1982?   Where was he?  By his own admission this is the year he traveled to Pakistan. The historical claim is he attended Columbia University after Occidental, but amid the discovery evidence in the Dr. Orly Taitz  v. The following paragraphs have been extracted from Taitz’ First Amended Complaint, filed at the U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia:

27. Further records from the Student Clearing House show even more shocking evidence. In his memoirs and multiple speeches Obama wrote that he studied for two years at Columbia University September 1981-May 1983. He admitted that in summer of 1981 he traveled to Pakistan to visit his friends, but repeatedly claimed that from September 1981 until May of 1983 he resided in New York and studied at Columbia University.

Taitz ran a check of his years of attendance at Columbia university and found out that Columbia official records show him attending Columbia university only for nine months September 1982-till May 1983 (Exhibit 3 — last line — click to enlarge), which means that the President of the United States lied to the whole nation about his whereabouts for a whole year September 1981 until September 1982. One year absence is the best case scenario, as he could get his university credit by reciprocity or through external studies.

28. As there is no record of Obama residing anywhere else in the United States from September 1981-September 1982, or attending any other university, by way of simple deduction it becomes clear that his visit to Pakistan lasted not a month or two, as he claims, but may have lasted for over a year. (continue reading)

Granted,  Dr. Taitz is somewhat of an odd personality, but the context of the Columbia University record is not a matter of her personality or agenda. Nor is it subject to opinion or spin.   It is a fact.  It is what it is.  This missing timeline directly contradicts Obama’s own words, and the construct of the narrative he and his fellow colleagues had created.

However, if you consider he never attended Columbia at that time, because he stayed in Pakistan, things make sense.  Not only do they make sense – they actually reconcile.

The “mystery Obama thesis” which just so happens to have turned up in Columbia – though no-one can remember him writing it, was about, wait for it,…..  ”an analysis of the evolution of the arms reduction negotiations between the Soviet Union and the United States“.   Oh boy, who would have been around to write such a specific thesis paper for cover?   It certainly is in the proverbial sweet spot for Brzezinski, no?

And then there’s the matter of how did Barack Obama gain entry into, and afford, Harvard Law School?  Mr. John O Brennan spent most of his C.I.A. career as an analyst, but during the 1990s served a tour as the chief of the station in Saudi Arabia.

As Sutton remembered, Al-Mansour was raising money for Obama’s education and seeking recommendations for him to attend Harvard Law School.

“I was introduced to (Obama) by a friend who was raising money for him,” Sutton told NY1 city hall reporter Dominic Carter. “The friend’s name is Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, from Texas.”

Apparently, al-Mansour serves on the Board of, among others, Saudi African Bank and was responsible for the Africa investment activities of Kingdom Holdings, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal’s investment company.

Is this how it all finally ties together?  I mean what are the odds that both CIA operatives Brennan and Brezinski would be in Pakistan at the same time young Obama was there, and then both men end up on his advisory team in 2008, 26 years later  – at the same time the State Dept Passport records are breached by John Brennan’s company specifically regarding Obama?   The same guy who Obama just nominated to be CIA Director.

Seriously, give me odds?

Was the Columbia University angle just a CIA cover story, replete with faux documents, just to cover for Obama’s time in Pakistan as a liason between affiliated political interests, the circles of his friends parents, in support of the Mujahadeen/U.S. objectives?

NOT unlike American politics, Israel’s electoral season heats up the citizenry to the nth degree. There is nothing like it. You should see people (otherwise rational folks, who else would one associate with) screaming at the tv, as candidates hawk their messages through the time allotted them, depending on party size etc. Even this blogger becomes mesmerized, thus, championing the message of her party, aka, “Tet Bet“…will clarify below. 

Yet, as imperfect as the U.S. system is, it beats Israel’s hands down. Basically, aside from obvious voter fraud (sometimes) perpetrated on the voters, voting directly for ones candidate, as opposed to (corrupt) part lists, stands for something – it is much easier to throw the bums out! Few understand the pernicious effects of a multi-party parliamentary system – www.science.co.il/Government.php…less than a squishy democracy. Despite its systemic, deficient underpinnings, voters still need to find a “home”. As such, many nationalists, formally devoted Likud voters (“Likudniks”), have jumped ship. One may rightfully (no pun intended) ask: where to? His nationalist ethos, his bridge between secular and religious, and his ability to think rationally/logically (is it any coincidence that he is also a successful hi-tech entrepreneur, capable of really seeing “from here to there”?…there is linkage) is self evident, whether one agrees with his politics or not. ‘How did Al Jazeera cover the Huma Abedin controversy?’

As the controversy over the sale of Al Gore’s Current TV to Al Jazeera continues, one of the things being argued by apologists for the deal is that Al Jazeera English is not like its Arabic counterpart. Al Jazeera English, we’re told, is a legitimate news operation that plays it straight and actually covers international news better than western media outlets. We’re expected to believe this despite both operations being run by the government of Qatar. We’re also expected to find it insignificant that Al Jazeera Arabic prominently features the Islamic propaganda of the Muslim Brotherhood’s spiritual leader – Yusuf Al-Qaradawi.

Both the Arabic and English Al Jazeera networks operate from Doha, Qatar and the government there calls the shots.

If Al Jazeera English is a legitimate, unbiased news network, then what better way to test their bonafides when it comes to objective journalism than to look at how it covered the Huma Abedin scandal?

A quick search of the network’s search engine reveals that there are six – count ‘em, six – stories that include so much as a mention of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff:

That there are so few stories about the Huma Abedin controversy is telling, especially when one considers the relationship between her family and the Muslim Brotherhood led by the guy (Qaradawi) who’s got his own show on Al Jazeera Arabic. In fact, there is not one straight news story on Al Jazeera English about the claims made by five U.S. Congressmen last summer, despite it being a very newsworthy subject from a straight news perspective.

The very first article that appears, Islamophobia and the Republican Party, is an op-ed ‘hit piece’ on Rep. Michele Bachmann and the four co-signers of the letters. It’s worth noting that the author is not Muslim; his name is Robert Grenier, former CIA station chief who heads a financial consultancy firm who identifies himself as a Republican.

Grenier wrote:

Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate in the 2008 election, rose on the floor of the Senate to defend Huma Abedin, a Muslim-American woman and deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, from attack by members of his own party. Abedin had been cited in a letter to the Deputy Inspector General of the State Department signed by five Republican congressmen, including Michele Bachmann, a former candidate for this year’s Republican presidential nomination with a large following in the party. That letter darkly cited “…information [which] has recently come to light that raises serious questions about Department of State policies and actions that appear to be a result of influence operations conducted by … the Muslim Brotherhood”. Exhibit A in this apparent conspiracy to subvert US policy? Why, Abedin, whose late father, mother and brother, it is alleged, all have been “connected to Muslim Brotherhood operatives and/or organisations”.

Yes, this is an op-ed but there is no opposing op-ed to be found at Al-Jazeera English. Perhaps that’s because, as Daniel Pearl’s father claims, Al Jazeera is a mouthpiece for the Muslim Brotherhood. Like practically all of Abedin’s defenders, Grenier ignored the facts while smearing the charge. We have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Huma Abedin’s ties to the Brotherhood are irrefutable. That Grenier would overlook the evidence while writing a puff piece on Abedin for Al Jazeera should raise questions about his intellectual honesty but the point of this post is to demonstrate Al Jazeera’s blatant bias on the Huma Abedin controversy.

The second of the six stories that at least mentioned Abedin was a glowing feature piece on America’s first Muslim congressman, Keith Ellison. In it, there is only a brief mention of Abedin and it was made by Ellison in his reference of Senator John McCain’s defense of the Clinton aid.

In the third article, US Muslim vote: ‘Mild’ enthusiasm for Obama, written shortly before the last U.S. presidential election, there was a brief mention of Bachmann’s letter:

And Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann claimed there are stealth efforts to impose sharia law on the US. In July – after she dropped out of the primary – she accused Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, of ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The the next two articles – US congressman admits online affairs, andAnthony Weiner quits US Congress, only mention Abedin in passing, while reporting on the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal from 2011.

The final story appears to be a transcript from a program known as The Cafe,during which, panelists debated the issue of America’s demise. The only mention of Abedin comes from a Muslim American named Wajahat Ali who said the following:

Now we’re talking about the deliberate exploitation of fear, I mean specifically, recently we saw Michelle Bachmann and her cohorts for elected officials, just casually say, oh yeah, without any evidence or facts, ‘cause facts are not her strong suit, that the government of the United States of America has been infiltrated by radical Islam and specifically she mentioned Huma Abedin, who is an aide of secretary Clinton, respected across both aisles and it’s lead to death threats against her. I wish more leaders, especially from both sides, but especially again, I know it’s not most republicans but the republican party has been infiltrated by this radical right Islamophobia…

In a 2011 report by David Horowitz and Robert Spencer, Wajahat Ali was identified as having participated in a Center for American Progress sponsored panel discussion entitled, “Challenging Islamophobia”. Also on the panel was Haris Tarin, the executive director for the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) in Washington, D.C.

Incidentally, Tarin is also a defender of Huma Abedin.

Ali was further identified by Spencer and Horowitz as someone who has complained about the “persecution” of John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban.

In summation, Al Jazeera English has published six articles that include mention of Huma Abedin. Three of those articles – to include an op-ed with no opposing view – were very supportive of Abedin; the other three included innocuous mentions of her in stories about her husband.

Aside from six stories being a very anemic total on such a subject with such relevance to the Arab world, the content indicates that Al Jazeera is not the objective news source it pretends to be.”

In any court of public opinion, let alone court of law, the linkage between Gore’s leftism and Islamic penetration/infiltration is a sealed deal. Congressman Murphy
Seeks Probe of Al Jazeera

Rep. Tim Murphy, who holds a senior position on the House Energy and Commerce Committee as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, has called on the Obama Administration to explain whether Al Jazeera’s purchase of Current TV from former Democratic Vice President Al Gore was given any federal review and scrutiny.

But Al Jazeera is working furiously to stop the mounting congressional interest and now has three lobbying firms working to stop any hearings or investigations into the deal.

Once known as the voice of Osama bin Laden, Al Jazeera is the mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood and its various terrorist affiliates. Qatar, which owns Al Jazeera, supports foreign Jihadists, including Hamas, a terrorist organization dedicated to Israel’s destruction.

Rep. Murphy told Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Julius Genachowski in a letter that “foreign ownership of media outlets” in the U.S. should be reviewed by the FCC and he questions what, if anything, the FCC did in regard to the Al Jazeera transaction. He says “the rules governing foreign ownership of U.S. news networks” would seem to apply in this case.

Murphy notes that the deal “would increase Al Jazeera’s broadcast footprint ninefold, beaming the channel into 40 million American homes.”

A news release quotes Murphy as saying, “There are legitimate concerns about the sale of an American news channel to a media corporation owned by a foreign government. And under this Administration, the FCC has been especially sensitive to consolidation efforts by television networks and other outlets, which has prompted me to make this inquiry.”

“The Federal Communications Commission has in the past moved assertively to define its role in media-consolidation efforts,” notes the Murphy letter. For example, he says, “in the case of the Comcast-NBC Universal merger, the FCC conducted an aggressive legal review of the matter resulting in a settlement of $800,000 to the U.S. Treasury by Comcast, according to records made public by your Enforcement Bureau.”

Murphy continued, “I would expect that foreign ownership of media outlets in this country falls under a similar category of scrutiny and interest. Concerns over the deal have already been raised by carriers such as Time Warner, and the cable company has announced that it will drop the newly proposed ‘Al Jazeera America’ channel from its packages.”

But in addition to hiring the K Street lobbying firm of DLA Piper to lobby on its behalf, the channel has hired Global Policy Initiatives and TCK International to represent it on Capitol Hill, according to a report from the Center for Public Integrity.

On January 4, AIM released a statement calling the transaction “an unacceptable danger to American citizens by further adding to the potential for home-grown Jihadists inspired by Al Jazeera’s inflammatory programming.”

In addition to Al Jazeera’s collaboration with terrorist groups, AIM said the hearings should examine:

  • The fact that 30 public television stations around the U.S. are already airing Al Jazeera in violation of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules.
  • Al Jazeera is not complying with the Foreign Agent Registration Act and labeling its broadcasts as foreign propaganda paid for by the pro-jihadist government of Qatar.

Michael Thompson of WorldNetDaily recently reported on our efforts, while conservative talk radio host Michael Savage has denounced the deal and urged congressional hearings into the transaction.

AIM previously reported on Al Jazeera’s hiring of the K street lobbying firm, DLA Piper, to stop any plans by Congress to investigate the sale. DLA Piper was hired by Qatar and even has an office in the Arab state, where it works on such matters as “Sharia finance” and tapping into Arab oil wealth.

As part of this expanding effort, Al Jazeera has hired two Republican lobbyists, Tom Korologos and George Salem, to lobby on its behalf, according to a reportfrom Jacob Fenton of the Sunlight Foundation.

Korologos is identified as a “heavyweight Republican lobbyist” whose ties to Capitol Hill “are so legendary he has been dubbed the 101st senator,” while Salem is identified as co-founder of the Arab American Institute who worked on various Republicans campaigns and has donated $166,000 since the 1990 election, almost all of it to Republican candidates.

The apparent purpose of hiring Republicans is to prevent Republicans in Congress from investigating the Al Jazeera deal with prominent Democrats.

Gore and two other prominent Democrats, Joel Hyatt and Richard C. Blum, husband of Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein, are making money from the deal, valued at $500 million, from the oil-rich Middle Eastern dictatorship of Qatar.

Jacob Fenton reports the deal “has drawn plenty of suspicion from conservative Republicans” and that the lobbying activity is an indication that “the TV network is taking some big steps to smooth over those differences.”

The Sunlight Foundation notes that DLA Piper has hosted at least 20 fundraisers for members of Congress at its Washington, D.C. offices over the past few years. Those fundraisers were for many prominent Republicans.

However, the Tim Murphy letter demonstrates that some Republicans are resisting the pressure and taking their oversight responsibilities seriously.

On the other hand, Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has failed to announce hearings into the transaction.

‘GUN CRITICS CHALLENGED TO BE WITHOUT THEIR GUNS’

‘We think they should demonstrate their belief in their own programs’

A spokesman for a foundation that successfully has battled in court to uphold the Constitution’s Second Amendment is challenging not only politicians but celebrities who think the American public should be disarmed to go without their own firearms protections.

“That would include Joe Biden’s shotguns,” said Alan Gottlieb, executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation, “and the armed security now enjoyed by Sens. Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.”

He said such leading opponents of gun ownership should begin the process and “lead by example” through repudiation of any of their own firearms as well as the “armed security” they now have.

“It seems clear from the direction the administration is going that it wants to severely restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners to purchase the firearms of their choice,” Gottlieb said, “and we think they should demonstrate their belief in their own programs by giving up their firearms and security first.”

The issue is in the headlines right now because anti-gun politicians including President Obama are trying to capitalize on the horror following the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 children and six adults victims.

The alleged gunman shot and killed himself, so there may be questions about the attack that never are answered.

An argument for armed self-defense, in “America Fights Back: Armed Self-Defense in a Violent Age.”

Nevertheless, Obama has appointed Vice President Joe Biden to head up a task force and make recommendations on more gun controls for the United States.

But Obama should be a leader in another area, Gottlieb said, that of relinquishing firearms and protection from firearms.

“It would especially apply to President Obama,” he said, “who just signed legislation giving himself Secret Service protection for life, at the expense of taxpayers he wants to disarm.”

He said the same standard is appropriate for “anti-gun celebrities who have bodyguards while supporting legislation that would deprive average citizens from owning firearms for personal protection.”

There is good that comes from Americans’ access to weaponry, he pointed out.

“For example,” he noted, “when I appeared with CNN’s Piers Morgan recently, he asserted that nobody needs an AR-15. The other day near Houston, a Texas teenager used an AR-15 to defend himself and his 12-year-old sister from a home invasion by shooting two burglars. Piers can choke on that.”

Gottlieb believes that public figures simply don’t have a right to advocate for gun bans for private citizens unless they first voluntarily give up their personal security.

“These anti-gun politicians were not elected to positions of royalty,” Gottlieb said. “They are citizens, with no more rights than any other citizen. They were elected to serve the public, not treat the public like serfs. If they want us to put our safety at risk, they should drop the pretense and give up their guns and guards before daring to suggest that anyone else do the same.”

The Second Amendment Foundation is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

It fought and won the landmark McDonald v. Chicago Supreme Court Case that applied Second Amendment rights to individuals in states all across the nation.

The organization earlier called out the hypocrisy of mayors across the nation who advocate for gun control.

It took a look at New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s plan called Mayors Against Illegal Guns that is to enhance gun restrictions on citizens city by city.

SAF officials said perhaps he should be focusing on the mayors themselves, not the residents of their cities.

“Michael Bloomberg created this group to further his personal agenda of public disarmament,” Gottlieb said at the time. “But within the ranks of his organization, our research has found several politicians who have been convicted of various serious crimes, thus making it impossible for them to finish their terms.

“We discovered,” he said, “one mayor convicted of perjury and embezzlement, another who was convicted of attempted child molestation, and yet another who was convicted of assault and racketeering. There was one who was convicted on bribery, fraud and money laundering, and another who was convicted of domestic violence.

“In short,” Gottlieb said, “many of these elitist politicians can no longer own firearms. The crimes they were convicted of suggest they are public enemies rather than public servants. No wonder they want to take guns from law-abiding citizens!

“Perhaps Bloomberg should worry about background checks on his colleagues, rather than law-abiding gun owners,” he suggested.

The group boasts that it has grown to more than 725 mayors in 40 states. But SAF is publicizing mayors who have run into their own troubles.

It is launching its campaign in newspapers, magazines and on the Internet, revealing the criminal and ethical wrongdoings of many of the mayors themselves.

Gottlieb reported the research conducted by the foundation found “a far higher rate of criminal activity within the ranks of the MAIG than among the ranks of more than eight million citizens who are licensed to carry concealed firearms in 49 states.”

Another recent battle for the SAF was in Alameda County, Calif., which changed the rules as three businessmen were trying to open a gun shop. The foundation successfully sued the county for allegedly violating the constitutional rights of three businessmen by wrongfully denying them permits to open a gun shop.

The foundation also recently argued a pair of California cities and the state’s Department of Justice improperly confiscated firearms during investigations and then refused to return them to their owners – even after the subjects of the inquiries were cleared.
Other cases the SAF has handled in recent months:

  • SAF sued the state of California over a “vague” gun ban over a case in which a man twice was jailed and then cleared. The focal point is the definition of an “assault weapon.” The statute’s definition of weapons is so “vague and ambiguous,” the group contends, that one man was arrested on two different occasions for violations but ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing. “It’s an insult to be arrested once for violating a law that is so vague and ambiguous that law enforcement officers cannot tell the difference between what is and what is not a legal firearm under this statute,” said Gottlieb, “but to be arrested and jailed twice for the same offense is an outrage.”
  • In New York, the organization has asked for a summary judgment that would strike New York City’s $340 triennial fee for just owning a handgun. The legal brief explains that under U.S. Supreme Court rulings “the right to keep a handgun in the home for self-defense is a part of the ‘core’ of the Second Amendment’s protections.” The case, brought by SAF, the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association and individuals including an electrical contractor, a paramedic, CPA and woodworker, argues, “The city’s $340 fee is inherently prohibitive and serves the impermissible purpose of discouraging the exercise of constitutional rights. While the city can charge a nominal fee to defray costs, the $340 fee is not nominal, and has never been calculated to defray costs.”
  • The organization has sued New Jersey and officials and judges over procedures that allowed them to refuse firearms permits for a kidnap victim, a man who carries large amounts of cash for his business and a civilian FBI employee who fears attacks from radical Islamists. The permissions were denied on the grounds people had not shown a “justifiable need.” “Law-abiding New Jersey citizens have been arbitrarily deprived of their ability to defend themselves and their families for years under the state’s horribly crafted laws,” said an SAF spokesman. “The law grants uncontrolled discretion to police chiefs and other public officials to deny license applications even in cases where the applicant has shown a clear and present danger exists.”
  • The SAF filed a case on behalf of an honorably discharged veteran from the Vietnam War and names as defendants Attorney General Eric Holder and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on behalf of Jefferson Wayne Schrader. The question is whether the state of Maryland can deprive an individual of the right to possess a weapon over a misdemeanor. Schrader had been convicted of misdemeanor assault relating to a fight involving a man who previously had assaulted him in Annapolis. But he was denied the opportunity to receive a shotgun as a gift or to purchase a handgun for personal protection.
  • SAF filed a claim against Maryland for a man who alleged the state was violating the Second Amendment by refusing to renew his handgun permit. Raymond Woollard originally was issued a carry permit after a man broke into his home during a family event in 2002. Woollard’s permit was renewed in 2005 after the defendant in the case was released from prison. But state officials later refused to renew the permit, even though the intruder now lives some three miles from Woollard.
  • SAF sued Westchester County, N.Y., because officials there were requiring that residents have a “good cause” to ask for a handgun permit. The federal lawsuit alleges the requirement conflicts with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the Second Amendment establishes a personal right to “keep and bear arms.” Individual plaintiffs in the case are Alan Kachalsky and Christina Nikolov, both Westchester County residents whose permit applications were denied.”

Will Israel’s Leaders Pre-empt The International Solidarity Movement’s (ISM) Next Terror Move? Commentary By Adina Kutnicki

IF history is any guide, if past is prologue, Israel’s security services will do little to pre-empt the International Solidarity Movement’s (ISM) upcoming terror tactic. But this is not to say that its security services are not good at what they do. In fact, some may argue that they are the best of the best. This blogger is quite familiar with some of their feats of magic. Now you see them, now you don’t.

However, being highly adept does not necessarily translate into preventative medicine. And when it comes to dealing with the perpetually aggrieved  “Palestinians”, common sense is rendered two sheets to the wind. Worse than drunks on out of control benders.

To be sure, the security services follow the dictates of the political leadership. Therefore, if there is little political will to deal with an issue – whether it involves the PA junta or its counterpart Hamas – sitting on ones hands is a likely “action” plan. Sort of like the “hands-in-the-pockets” policing techniques, but only utilized when dealing with Israel’s internal Arab population. Yes, all of the above is a nightmare for Jewish nationalists. The searing pain. A happy dance for Israel’s left.

‘Op-Ed: Nipping ISM in the Bud’

“As elections approach in Israel and violence continues on a daily basis in Judea and Samaria, it is time the present government takes preventative action to avoid the propaganda bonanza the Arabs have been reaping in the there.

The International Solidarity Movemen (ISM), the communist-anarchist inspired front put together by the Palestinian propaganda machine, continues unabated in the game of incitement against Israel at home and abroad.

But one bit of refreshing news is that Paul LaRudee, the head of Norcal ISM, the US west coast branch of the ISM in the USA, was kicked out of India by the Indian government. LaRudee visited India to incite anarchists and communists and anti-Semites there to rally behind him in for a new march on Jerusalem, “7,000 strong” to defy the Israeli police and flood the country with anti-Israel activists.

But more important, LaRudee wanted to pitch his next project:  since the Flotillas to Gaza weren’t working as well as they had earlier: he wants to purchase an airplane to fly into Gaza and challenge Israeli control of Gaza’s air space.
The Indians, possibly still reeling from the massacre in Mumbai, deported LaRudee. It didn’t take long for them do so unlike the many years LaRudee would enter, be deported, then reenter Israel even under false identities to incite riots and aid Hamas . I finally helped put a stop to this in 2006. A few communist-inspired attorneys in Israel tried to have him admitted even though he entered under a false identity, but it wouldn’t fly.

Undaunted in his hatred for Israel, LaRudee returned to San Francisco to lay down in front of traffic in front of the Israeli consulate and cause another scene. He then immediately went to Lebanon at the start of the 2006 war to serve as a human shield for the Hizbullah.

Rudee once boasted of his joy at sleeping in the bed of a suicide bomber as he sat inside a house used for that purpose that was slated for demolition. Along with Huwaida Arraf, an ISM founder with both Israeli and US citizenship who admits openly she works in support with Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the PFLP, LaRudee founded the Free Gaza or Flotilla Movement. The idea of sailing a boat full of pro-Palestinian activists to Israel actually took place in 1988 with another ISM affiliated member, Scott Kennedy, also from California, who recently passed away.

That boat never left the port in Cyprus. But the new Flotilla plan by LaRudee slowly gained momentum and raised enough money to launch a first boat nearly twenty years later.
That first boat was supposed to be stopped in the middle of the night by the IDF Navy – to nip the propaganda purpose it was to serve by aiding Hamas in Gaza. Instead, at the last minute, the IDF Navy was told to stand down and let the boat through. The logic went that this would deny the ISM and the Arabs a propaganda moment. Instead, it only encouraged the ISM and their Hamas allies to go out and seek donations for an even bigger boat next time.

Incredibly, the Israeli government allowed the same first boat to return to Cyprus so its passengers could declare their victory over the Israeli blockade of Hamas. Five more flotillas followed and each one was allowed to enter Gaza in defiance of the security blockade. LaRudee, Arraf and company were able to raise more money after each trip to buy bigger and better boats. Iranian agents were also on board posing as Press TVreporters since the opening of the sea lanes to Gaza would facilitate weapons smuggling by sea to attack Israel.

These activities were so successful over a period of years, they inspired the ISM to contact other states hostile to Israel to contribute money, men and resources to the Flotillas. This culminated in the Mavi Marmara debacle as Muslims from Turkey joined in with the blessing of the Turkish government. We all know the result of that.
One of the mistakes of all the Israeli governments during the nearly 20 year-long Oslo debacle has been to not demand of the Palestinians prior to Hamas taking over in Gaza, that any incitement by the ISM and its “affinity groups” like Christian Peacemaker Teams must be stopped by the Palestinians themselves before any funds, or no cooperation will be received from Israel.

For unknown reasons, past Israeli governments have allowed foreigners to come to Judea and Samaria and work under Palestinian leadership in the mosques to incite the local Arab populations to riot and carry on at the Security Fence. Weekly stone throwing with deadly slingshots has become sport for the Arabs and even their children who have little fear about attacking IDF soldiers and border police.

In Gaza, it was the same until the Disengagement and after the ISM activist Rachel Corrie sat in front of a bulldozer clearing weapons tunnels and was killed. Her death was considered a media windfall by the ISM and is still being played up overseas on a constant basis, particularly in the United States.

LaRudee and company now use the strategy of portraying settlers in Judea and Samaria as violently attacking peaceful Arabs and that Israel is waging war on Arab children and Christians. This is the new ISM campaign in America’s colleges and in public spheres. If you think the Rachel Corrie clown circus was a headache for Israel, wait until a planeload of suckers for the ISM try flying into Gaza and get shot down.

Rely on LaRudee and company enlisting the Iranians to join in for financing and “protection.”

Speaking in India, LaRudee complained that “Palestine and even the United States is ‘occupied’ by Israel.” No doubt he was referring to fact that most American citizens still feel a need to support a democratic state like Israel rather than Arab fascism posing as “national liberation.”

But there is a growing constituency of Arab-Americans who will gladly fund LaRudee to help him dominate the Jews and end the Jewish “occupation” of “Palestine.”
LaRudee held his first fundraiser for his ‘airplane to Gaza’ plan at a Pakistani restaurant in Newark, California about two years ago. Since then, he has fallen out of favor with other groups making up the ISM due to suspected embezzlement of donation funds and for taking credit for other ISM actions he didn’t organize or follow through on. This list included the Flotilla boat operations, although he was on board the boats during the Mavi Marmara incident. His deportations from Israel got him banned for 10 years so he can’t sneak in again and raise havoc himself. This is why he went to India where he is less well-known among the destroy-Israel-at-all costs crowd there.
If Israel doesn’t want a repetition of expensive ISM stunts this time, with airplanes and a new batch of adolescent martyrs like Rachel Corrie to deal with, the government must make it clear that any planes flying into Gaza will be shot down immediately. It also needs to alert the US and other Western governments that internationals who would board such a plane will be putting their lives at risk so that their respective governments understand there was fair warning, well in advance.

Nobody believed the ISM and LaRudee would ever sail that first boat to Gaza and they never should have been able to. Israel now has a chance to do something pro-actively to stop the ISM from playing on this new scenario well in advance.

‘DID CIA PICK SANITIZE OBAMA’S PASSPORT RECORDS?’

Employee breached files when eligibility issue during 2008 campaign

NEW YORK – John Brennan, the Obama counter-terrorism adviser nominated this week to head the CIA, played a controversial role in what many suspect was an effort to sanitize Obama’s passport records.

On March 21, 2008, amid Obama’s first presidential campaign, two unnamed contract employees for the State Department were fired and a third was disciplined for breaching the passport file of Democratic presidential candidate and then-Sen. Barack Obama.

Breaking the story, the Washington Times on March 20, 2008, noted that all three had used their authorized computer network access to look up and read Obama’s records within the State Department consular affairs section that “possesses and stores passport information.”

Contacted by the newspaper, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack attributed the violations to non-political motivations, stressing that the three individuals involved “did not appear to be seeking information on behalf of any political candidate or party.”

“As far as we can tell, in each of the three cases, it was imprudent curiosity,” McCormack told the Washington Times.

The spokesman did not disclose exactly how the State Department came to that conclusion.

By the next day, the story had changed.

The New York Times reported March 21, 2008, that the security breach had involved unauthorized searches of the passport records not just of Sen. Obama but also of then-presidential contenders Sens. John McCain and Hillary Clinton.

Again, the New York Times attributed the breaches to “garden-variety snooping by idle employees” that was “not politically motivated.”

Like the Washington Times, the New York Times gave no explanation to back up its assertion that the breaches were attributable to non-political malfeasance.

Still, the New York Times report indicated then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had spent Friday morning calling all three presidential candidates and that she had told Obama that she was sorry for the violation.

“I told him that I myself would be very disturbed if I learned that somebody had looked into my passport file,” Rice said.

The newspaper quoted Obama as saying he appreciated the apology but that he expected the passport situation “to be investigated diligently and openly.”

According to the New York Times report, Obama’s tone of concern was obvious.

“One of the things that the American people count on in their interactions with any level of government is that if they have to disclose personal information, that is going to stay personal and stay private,” Obama told reporters. “And when you have not just one, but a series of attempts to tap into people’s personal records, that’s a problem, not just for me, but for how our government is functioning.”

The New York Times noted that the files examined likely contained sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers, addresses and dates of birth, as well as passport applications and other biographical information that would pertain to U.S. citizenship. Only at the end of the article did the New York Times note that State Department spokesman McCormack had emphasized the most egregious violation appeared to have been made against Obama.

Obama was the only one of the three presidential candidates involved who had his passport file breached on three separate occasions. The first occurred Jan. 9, 2008, followed by separate violations Feb. 21 and March 14, 2008. Moreover, all three of the offending employees had breached Obama’s files, while each of the passport files of McCain and Clinton had been breached only once.

The Brennan connection

The New York Times noted the two offending State Department contract employees who were fired had worked for Stanley Inc., a company based in Arlington, Va., while the reprimanded worker continued to be employed by the Analysis Corporation of McLean, Va.

The newspaper gave no background on either corporation, other than to note that Stanley Inc. did “computer work for the government.”

At that time, Stanley Inc. was a 3,500-person technology firm that had just won a $570-million contract to provide computer-related passport services to the State Department.

Analysis Corporation was headed by Brennan, a former CIA agent who was then serving as an adviser on intelligence and foreign policy to Sen. Obama’s presidential campaign.

After Obama’s inauguration, Brennan joined the White House as assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counter-terrorism.

By March 22, 2008, the Washington Times reported that the State Department investigation had focused on the contract worker for the Analysis Corporation, because he was the only one of the three involved in breaching the passport records of both Obama and McCain, the two presidential candidates whose eligibility as “natural born” citizens under Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution were in question.

Keeping with the theme that the motive for the passport breach was attributable to mischief, the three State Department contract employees received relatively light penalties for their offenses – two were fired and one was reprimanded.

Although at the time the State Department promised a full-scale investigation, the public was kept in the dark.

In July 2008, the State Department’s Office of Inspector General issued a 104-page investigative report on the passport breach incidents, stamped “Sensitive But Unclassified.” The report was so heavily redacted, it was virtually useless to the public. Scores of passages were blacked out entirely, including one sequence of 29 consecutive pages that were each obliterated by a solid black box that made it impossible even to determine paragraph structures.

Investigative reporter Kenneth Timmerman said a well-placed but unnamed source told him that the real point of the passport breach incidents was to cauterize the Obama file, removing from it any information that could prove damaging to his eligibility to be president.

According to the theory, the breaches of McCain’s and Clinton’s files were done for misdirection purposes, to create confusion and to suggest the motives of the perpetrators were attributable entirely to innocent curiosity.

Another thief enters the case

Within a few days, a new witness surfaced unexpectedly, providing evidence that breaching passport files was an offense being perpetrated by State Department officials on a massive and everyday basis.

The case centered on Leiutenant Quarles Harris Jr., age 24. Harris, who spelled his named differently than the officer rank, was a petty drug dealer and identity-theft criminal who never served in the military or in any police or fire department.

On March 25, 2008, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Officer William A. Smith Jr. of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Narcotics Special Investigation Division stopped an oncoming vehicle that had tinted windows he believed were in violation of the D.C. Tinted Window Act of 1994.

After stopping the vehicle, Smith found the driver, Harris, and his female passenger had been smoking marijuana. Harris had stuffed in his jacket pocket a large clear zip-lock bag containing 13 smaller clear zip-lock bags, each filled with marijuana.

The affidavit of criminal complaint filed by Smith with the U.S. District Court specified that in the search of the vehicle, the officers found 19 different credit cards with names different from Harris and his female passenger. Also discovered were eight State Department passport applications, also in names different from Harris and his female passenger.

The officers further discovered four of the names on the passport applications matched the names on the credit cards. A check with American Express while Harris was still on the scene of the traffic stop indicated that some of the American Express cards in his possession, but not in his name, had recently been used and that American Express had placed a “fraud alert” on the cards.

Smith brought Harris to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Sixth District, where agents of the U.S. Secret Service, the State Department and the U.S. Postal Service questioned him. Harris’ involvement in passport application theft clearly made him no ordinary petty criminal.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Smith, Harris admitted under questioning that he obtained the passport information from an unnamed co-conspirator working at the State Department. The complaint said the passport applications were used to obtain credit cards in the names of the passport applicants.

Another unnamed co-conspirator working at the U.S. Postal Service intercepted the issued credit cards before they were delivered to the residences of the persons named on the cards.

What was clear from Harris’ statements was that breaching passport records at the State Department had developed into major criminal activity conducted on a continuing basis by State Department employees with access to the State Department’s Passport Information Electronic Records System, commonly known by the acronym PIERS.

What also was clear was that Harris had information related to the State Department employees who had breached Obama’s passport records and that he was cooperating with government officials.

Despite the objection of the prosecutors, the judge at his arraignment released Harris the next day on personal recognizance. He was ordered to return to court for a hearing in June 2008.

Key witness murdered

However, Harris did not live to attend the court hearing.

On April 18, 2008, he was found murdered in Washington, D.C., by a single bullet to the head in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting.

The Washington Times reported April 19, 2008, that a “key witness in a federal probe into passport information stolen from the State Department was fatally shot in front of a District church” at close range, around 11 p.m., in the 2800 block of 12th Street NE, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Harris, who the Washington Times described as “cooperating with federal investigators,” was found slumped dead at the steering wheel of his car in front of the Judah House Praise Baptist Church in the northeast section of D.C., according to Commander Michael Anzallo, the head of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

A police officer patrolling the neighborhood at the time of Harris’ death heard gunshots and ran to the scene, only to find Harris dead inside his car. The Metropolitan Police admitted a “shot spotter” device had been used to locate Harris in the shooting, although police officials declined to say whether his death was a direct result of his cooperation with federal investigators.

There is no evidence that today links Harris’ crimes or murder with the breach of Obama’s passport records by State Department contract employees.

At first glance, Harris could be dismissed as a foot-soldier selling marijuana and peddling credit cards fraudulently obtained via passport-related identity theft.

Yet there is more to the story than petty criminal activity. Obviously, Harris got himself in way over his head when he decided to work with the State Department officials accessing PIERS to obtain passport records without authorization.

Equally obvious was that by being willing to cooperate with police, Harris risked becoming a threat to his accomplices and co-conspirators within the State Department.

ABC news affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., reported Cleopatria Harris, the mother of Leiutenant Quarles Harris, believed her son was murdered to keep him from cooperating with the federal investigation into the passport-record breach. She told the TV station her son was in court three days before his murder.

“He felt like he was going to do jail time. He was willing to do jail time,” she said, indicating that she believed news reports that her son had been arrested and was cooperating with the police were the reason he was killed. “Yes I do. think it had a hell of a lot to do with it. [The story] made my son appear to be a snitch.”

Similarly, the Washington Post reported Cleopatria Harris was “absolutely sure” her son was killed because of his involvement in the passport-credit card scam.

Harris’ mother refused to believe her son’s murder was an act of violence unrelated to the passport scheme. Instead, she contended he was killed because he was an important witness regarding a State Department breach of passport records.

To date, the D.C. Metropolitan Police have no suspects in the still unsolved murder of Leiutenant Quarles Harris Jr. Nor has the State Department ever revealed publicly what was discovered in the breach of Obama’s passport records. The three individuals involved in the breach have never come forward in public to tell what they found.

Obama discloses trip to Pakistan

But this is not the end of the story.

Two weeks after the report that Obama’s passport records had been breached, candidate Obama made the surprising disclosure at a private fundraiser April 7, 2008, that he had traveled to Pakistan during his college years.

Jake Tapper, then senior White House correspondent for ABC News, commented that Obama’s disclosure that he had taken a college trip to Pakistan was “news to most of us.” Tapper said “it was odd we hadn’t heard about it before, given all the talk of Pakistan during this campaign.”

Tapper reported that, according to the Obama campaign, Obama visited Pakistan in 1981, the year he transferred from Occidental College to Columbia University, and that he had visited his mother and sister Maya in Indonesia on the same trip.

Why was Obama disclosing now, for the first time, that he had traveled to Pakistan with his roommates from Occidental College?

Did Obama use an Indonesian passport to travel to Indonesia and Pakistan in 1981, and was he concerned the breach of his passport records might end up disclosing such information, if true?

The attempt to preempt such a disclosure might explain the timing of Obama’s decision to suddenly reveal, at least to the friends assembled for the fundraiser, the previously undisclosed trip to Indonesia and Pakistan.

“I traveled to Pakistan when I was in college,” Obama is heard saying on the poor-quality audiotape that survives from the San Francisco fundraiser. “I knew what Sunni and Shia was [sic] before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.”

‘Flashing red lies of Benghazi’

“It is often said that it is not always the crime, but the cover-up that creates the most serious problems to those involved in criminal activity. So too will it be with Benghazi. The evidence of a massive cover-up exists within reach, waiting for the spotlight of truth to bring it into focus. The video that was identified as being the spark that ignited the protests and ultimately, the attack that resulted in the murder of four Americans plays an important and very telling role, but not in the manner believed by many Americans.

The video holds certain clues in the activities of this administration, as do those associated with it. Based on my own extensive research, investigation and inquiries, it is my professional belief and opinion that it contains the “fingerprints” of certain key individuals acting within and on behalf of this administration, including, perhaps, one who is presently being considered to head a large government agency.

Additionally, it appears that the video can be traced back to individuals and groups who were involved in a case of political intrigue in 2008. A case that when viewed in a certain manner, when focused in a certain way, might also involve the unsolved murder of a young man who was caught in a situation way over his head. Having no choice but to turn government informant, he never got the chance to testify on record, as he was found with a bullet to his head.

As we have seen with such cover-ups as Watergate and the Clinton sex scandal, it is the hubris of those involved in the cover-up that leads to their downfall. However, no one was murdered in either of those two scandals, and the motives of both did not involve taking a country to the brink of a world war.

The truth behind Benghazi, however, is the key to it all.”

Life and death issues require utmost seriousness and urgency. Knowing how to read between the lines, even if transparency is impossible (in certain hotter than hot circumstances), is mandatory. A cool, clear eyed perspective is the highest priority.

Without a doubt, Syria’s chemical weapons is one such toxic/incendiary topic. Nevertheless, an experienced sort knows when the reported “status quo” is anything but static. And while the report below certainly implies as much (at least from the onset), its importance lies somewhere else. Its essence is in its first few words “Syria’s chemical weapons are under control for now”, emphasis on “now”. In other words, Israel’s leaders are being as “clear” as they can be, juxtaposing between the current situation – as it appears – knowing full well it can turn on a dime.

And this blogger’s strategic “go to” sources, when shown DEBKA’s latest report, also focused on the IMMEDIATE danger which lies within Al-Qadea fronts, as they march towards Syrian chemical weapons! ‘Israel: State of Syrian chemical weapons could change in a moment’

“Syria’s chemical weapons are under control for now, but no one in America or Israel can tell what the situation will be five minutes from now,” a senior Israeli defense official told DEBKAfile Tuesday, Jan.8. The situation is dangerously fluid because there is no certainty about who is in control, or when some Syrian chemical unit commander may take it into his head to use it.”

There were two touch-and-go moments in the last two months – first, when Assad was on the verge of directing chemical arms to be used against the rebels; second, when Al Qaeda’s Jabhat al-Nusrah front fighting in rebel ranks came close to getting hold of them. The first occurred in the last week of November and the second in the last ten days of December.
The New York Times Tuesday reported that, in the first instance, Israel’s top military commanders called the Pentagon to discuss troubling intelligence showing up on satellite imagery that “Syrian troops appeared to be mixing chemicals at two storage sites, probably the deadly nerve gas sarin, and filling dozens of 500-pound bombs that could be loaded on airplanes.”

American sources then mobilized international forces, Russia, China, Turkey, Jordan and other Arab nations for sharply worded messages to the Syrian ruler Bashar Assad and his senior commanders to stop the mixing of chemicals and preparation of bombs. The sources did not say what persuaded Assad to halt the process. According to DEBKAfile’s military sources, there was no direct threat of US or NATO military action in Syria.
Our sources add that, among the messages’ recipients, were commanders of the top secret Chemical Weapons Unit 450 of the Syrian Air Force. This brought to light for the first time that the US has developed direct channels of communications to Syrian unit commanders, including a top-secret air force outfit which has not so far taken part in the fighting.
According to DEBKAfile’s American sources, the bombs filled with sarin were not dismantled and they are still sitting in stores at – or in close proximity to – Syrian air forces bases, ready for operational use at short notice.

This means that the Syrian ruler in effect flouted the American demand, although it was backed by Moscow, to dismantle the bombs.  In his defiant speech Sunday, Jan. 6, Assad made it clear that he “no longer takes dictation from anyone” – especially the West.

It is important to note that sarin nerve gas once mixed has a life of 60 days, after which it must be destroyed. More than half of this period has elapsed and so the Syrian ruler has until the end of January to decide how he wants to dispose of those deadly bombs.
The German newspaper Die Welt recently quoted the head of the BIND external intelligence service as estimating that he Syrian Air Force was able to have chemical weapons ready for operation within four to six hours from receiving an order. The New York Times believes that two hours would be enough.
Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, in a rare comment on the Syrian chemical weapons question, told a cabinet meeting that the Syrian regime is very unstable and “the question of chemical weapons here worries us.” He said that Israel was coordinating with the United States and others “so that we might be prepared for any scenario and possibility that could arise.”

Then, in an interview Monday, Netanyahu warned that world peace is under grave peril from the nuclear weapons under development in Iran and Syria’s chemical arms arsenal, which could reach the wrong hands. A senior security official told DEBKAfile that the prime minister was referring to the repeated rebel assault on Syria’s largest chemical weapons depot at a=Al Safira near Aleppo, which has been repulsed by the Syrian army – for now.

With so much anti-American crap hitting the fan it is nigh impossible to rate events in any qualified order of magnitude. However, after internalizing as much of the inherent dangers as possible, it behooves American patriots to finally step up. Big time.

And this blogger believes that one such action plan can indeed be nation-saving. Have thought about said idea for some time, but its articulation is best expressed through the ever straight shooter, Michael Savage. All in due time.

This blog has demonstrably proven that the Dem Party is a danger to America’s foundations. Most conclusively, its thesis is encapsulated within several recent commentaries, one which outlines an attempt to install the Radical/Islamist/-in-Chief for an unlimited term as President. Regardless, those who hold sway are beyond repair, and for reasons too lengthy to enumerate in one commentary. However, let us dare not forget who holds their reins, the drunken, addled Rep Boehner, hardly up to the patriotic challenge. Heck, he can barely take care of himself.

Says a ‘King David’ needed to unite voters against Dems, GOP

“Michael Savage, one of the nation’s most prominent voices in talk radio, said today America is “absolutely” ripe for a third party, in part, because the two largest parties in the U.S. have pulled a “charade” on the American people.

“There is no Republican Party,” Savage told fellow talk show host Aaron Klein. “It’s an appendage of the Democrat machine, as we’ve all just seen. It’s two-card Monte, as we well know. It’s a game being played against the American people. You’ve got the drunk Boehner on the one side, and the quasi-pseudo-crypto Marxist on the other, who is really just enjoying the ride in Hawaii right now, representing his factions.”

Instead, “We need a nationalist party in the United States of America,” said Savage on WABC’s “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” suggesting a party focused on “borders, language and culture.”

He continued: “You have the rudiments of a new party in this country called a tea party. They need to restructure their party. They need a charismatic leader, which they don’t have. When you say, ‘Tea party,’ no one knows who the leader is, because there is no leader. No man has stepped forward who can lead that party – no one who is an articulate speaker, a charismatic mover of people.

“The tea party is the rudiment of the new nationalist party,” Savage explained. “Somebody has to bring them all together, unite them like King David did the ancient tribes of Israel. And there is no King David out there. Who’s the King David? Tell me who is going to do it?”

What about Savage himself?

“I could do it if I was 20 years younger. I would do it right now,” Savage told Klein. “But I’m not 20 years younger, and I don’t have 20 years left in me. This is going to require enormous resources and enormous energy. I can guarantee you, Aaron, if I ever did this I could raise probably $100 million within three months easily.

“There are people so frustrated by the democracy that is gone in this country, the structure that has replaced our democracy is what I meant to say, that they would clamor for the new nationalist party,” Savage said.

Savage also pointed out the term “nationalism” needs to be redefined, as it’s too often associated with Hitler and the National Socialist Party, the Nazis, of 1930s Germany.

This association, however, Savage claims is simply the design of the “internationalists” in the ranks of the left and leftist media who desire to “dissolve the sovereignty of nations.”

“Borders, language, culture has been my motto in radio from the beginning,” Savage explained. “Nationalism is the only thing that can save America, and a new nationalist party that has a very strict firewall that does not permit the radical fringe of racism.”

He continued, “Going forward we have to, I think on radio, continue to educate the audiences about nationalism and the importance of our nation and our nation’s sovereignty – borders, language, culture. Borders, language, culture – it defines every nation on the planet, the flag, the language, the borders. And what is it the internationalists do? They want to dissolve the borders, they want to introduce multiculturalism, they want to introduce a Tower of Babel of languages.”

Claims 6 American Muslims have strong influence on U.S. policy

Effectively affirming the concerns of five much-maligned Republican House members and the evidence presented in an investigative book, an Egyptian magazine claims six American Muslim leaders who work with the Obama administration are Muslim Brotherhood operatives who have significant influence on U.S. policy.

Egypt’s Rose El-Youssef magazine, in a Dec. 22 story, said the six men turned the White House “from a position hostile to Islamic groups and organizations in the world to the largest and most important supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

IPT said that while the story is largely unsourced, it is significant because it raises the issue to Egyptian readers.

The article names Arif Alikhan, assistant secretary of Homeland Security for policy development; Mohammed Elibiary, a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council; Rashad Hussain, the U.S. special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference; Salam al-Marayati, co-founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, or MPAC); Imam Mohamed Magid, president of the Islamic Society of North America, or ISNA; and Eboo Patel, a member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships.

Meanwhile, outspoken Republican congressman Louie Gohmert has been pressing for an investigation of the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence on the federal government, contending a probe is necessary because of the Obama administration’s “horrendous decisions” in backing the so-called “Arab Spring” revolutions in the Middle East.

The East Texas lawmaker was one of five Republican Congress members who stirred bipartisan controversy in June by raising concern about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the nation’s capital.

The Egypt-based Muslim Brotherhood was formed in the 1920s after the demise of the Ottoman Turkish empire with the intent of helping establish Islamic rule worldwide. It’s stated goal for the U.S. is “a kind of grand jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within” so that “Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

The book also uncovered new evidence that CAIR directly funded Hamas and al-Qaida terrorist fronts.

When the book was released, Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., co-founder of the bipartisan House Anti-Terrorism/Jihad Caucus and a member of the House Permanent Select Committee On Intelligence, pointed out at a press conference in Washington that groups such as CAIR and the Islamic Society of North America “have a proven record of senior officials being indicted and either imprisoned or deported from the United States.”

She noted evidence presented at the trial of the Texas-based Muslim charity Holy Land Foundation, convicted of funding Hamas, exposed CAIR, ISNA and others as front groups for the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States.

Myrick exposed the absence of a formal vetting process by Congress for screening radical Muslims invited to work or pray or speak at the Capitol. CAIR, consequently, placed a number of employees within the Capitol, including known terrorists and terrorist suspects.

CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad, for example, invited al-Qaida terrorist Anwar Awlaki to speak and pray at the Capitol. Awad also helped get Awlaki into the Pentagon within months of Awlaki assisting the 9/11 hijackers, Catherine Herridge revealed in her book “The Next Wave.”

The Egyptian magazine noted Alikhan is a founder of the World Islamic Organization, identifying it as a Brotherhood “subsidiary,” IPT reported.

Alikhan was responsible for the “file of Islamic states” in the White House and provides the direct link between the Obama administration and the Arab Spring revolutions of 2011, according to the magazine.

Elibiary, as WND reported in October 2011, was singled out by Gohmert at a House hearing. The Republican congressman confronted Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano with a charge that Elibiary, who had a security clearance as a member of the DHS advisory council, accessed a federal database and shopped sensitive reports to a left-leaning media outlet to publicize his claim that the department is promoting “Islamophobia”

Elibiary, president and CEO of the Freedom and Justice Foundation of Carrollton, Texas, has been a strong supporter of the radical Islamic theologian Sayyid Qutb, whose teachings inspired and continue to govern al-Qaida and Islamic jihadist organizations worldwide.

Former assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy documents that the DHS advisory group helped devise the new Obama counterterrorism strategy. McCarthy, who prosecuted the perpetrators of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, said the strategy “has law-enforcement pare back their intelligence-gathering activities and take their marching orders from ‘community partners.’”

WND reported in 2004 that Elibiary spoke at a conference that honored the founder of the Iranian Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini. Elibiary has strongly criticized the U.S. government’s prosecution of fundraisers for Hamas and is a defender of CAIR.

He has criticized the U.S. government’s prosecution and conviction of the Holy Land Foundation and five former officials for providing more than $12 million to Hamas, characterizing the case as a defeat for the United States.

The Egyptian magazine, Rose El-Youssef, said Rashad Hussain maintained close ties with people and groups in the Muslim Brotherhood network in America. He took part, the magazine noted, in the June 2002 annual conference of the American Muslim Council, formerly headed by convicted terrorist financier Abdurahman Alamoudi.

He also was on the organizing committee of the Critical Islamic Reflection along with key Brotherhood figures such as Jamal Barzinji, Hisham al-Talib and Yaqub Mirza.

MPAC’s al-Marayati has been among the most influential Muslim American leaders in recent years, IPT pointed out. The Egyptian magazine shows the links between MPAC and the international Muslim Brotherhood infrastructure.

Obama appointed Magid, chief of the Muslim Brotherhood-founded ISNA, as an adviser to the Department of Homeland Security. Magid also has also given speeches and conferences on American Middle East policy at the State Department and offered advice to the FBI, the Egyptian magazine said.

Patel maintains a close relationship with Tariq Ramadan, the grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna, Rose El-Youssef reported. He’s a member of the Muslim Students Association, which was identified as a Muslim Brotherhood front group in a 1991 document introduced into evidence during the Holy Land Foundation trial.

Investigation warranted

In July, Gohmert, along with Rep. Michele Bachmann, R, Minn., and three other Republican House members, pointed to Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, as a possible Muslim Brotherhood influence on U.S. policy. The lawmakers asked the inspector generals at the departments of Homeland Security, Justice and State to investigate, prompting Democrats and Republicans to rush to Abedin’s defense.

However, as WND reported, Abedin worked for an organization founded by her family that is effectively at the forefront of a grand Saudi plan to mobilize U.S. Muslim minorities to transform America into a strict Wahhabi-style Islamic state, according to an Arabic-language manifesto issued by the Saudi monarchy. Abedin also was a member of the executive board of the Brotherhood’s Muslim Student Association.

The internal memo said Muslim Brotherhood members “must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and by the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

Gohmert and other advocates for an investigation of the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence on the U.S. government argue a simple reading of security clearance guidelines in reference to Huma Abedin’s family would warrant investigation.

The Center for Security Policy notes that security clearance guidelines for federal employees state a “security risk may exist when an individual’s immediate family, including cohabitants and other persons to whom he or she may be bound by affection, influence, or obligation are not citizens of the United States or may be subject to duress.”

The guidelines express concern for any “association or sympathy with persons or organizations that advocate the overthrow of the United States Government, or any state or subdivision, by force or violence or by other unconstitutional means.”

Nevertheless, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank has suggested researchers and lawmakers who have presented evidence of the Muslim Brotherhood ties of Abedin and her family are motivated by racism. He commented in a column that it’s “hard to escape the suspicion” that the charges have “something to do with the way she looks and how she worships.”

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., called the request for an investigation of Abedin and her family a “sinister” and “nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable woman, a dedicated American and a loyal public servant”.

‘White House weighs broad gun-control agenda in wake of Newtown shootings’

The White House is weighing a far broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation’s gun violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the administration’s discussions.

A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.

To sell such changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the National Rifle Association that one source said could include rallying support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses. White House aides have also been in regular contact with advisers to New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I), an outspoken gun-control advocate who could emerge as a powerful surrogate for the Obama administration’s agenda.

The Biden group, formed last month after the massacre at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school that killed 20 children and six adults, plans to submit a package of recommendations to President Obama this month. Once Obama’s proposals are set, he plans to lead a public-relations offensive to generate popular support.

“They are very clearly committed to looking at this issue comprehensively,” said Dan Gross, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, who has been involved in the discussions. The proposals under consideration, he added, are “a deeper exploration than just the assault-weapons ban.”

The gun-control push is just one part of an ambitious political agenda that Obama has pledged to pursue after his decisive reelection victory in November, including comprehensive immigration reform, climate-change legislation and long-term deficit reduction. Obama also faces a reshuffling of his Cabinet, and a looming debate over the nation’s debt ceiling that will compete for his time and attention in the coming months.

Seeking expansive mandate

In addition to potential legislative proposals, Biden’s group has expanded its focus to include measures that would not need congressional approval and could be quickly implemented by executive action, according to interest-group leaders who have discussed options with Biden and key Cabinet secretaries. Possibilities include changes to federal mental-health programs and modernization of gun-tracking efforts by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“Simply coming up with one or two aspects of it really falls short of the magnitude of the gun issue in the country,” said Chuck Wexler, executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum.

Wexler was among a dozen law enforcement leaders who met with Biden and other administration leaders in the aftermath of the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. The Dec. 20 summit, which stretched an hour beyond an allotted one hour, included Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Biden “wanted to talk to us about the assault-weapons ban, automatic weapons, high-capacity magazines,” said Hennepin County (Minn.) Sheriff Richard Stanek, president of the Major County Sheriffs’ Association.

The vice president said the White House group would consider a variety of proposals — from requiring background checks for all gun buyers to creating a new database that would allow the ATF to track all gun sales, according to participants.

Stanek said the meeting also included significant discussion of mental-health issues, violence in video games and movies, and the poor quality of information contained in databases used to conduct criminal background checks before issuing gun permits.

Some of the options the administration is considering may not ultimately be included in Obama’s package. A White House spokesman said Biden’s group was in the midst of its review and has made no decisions on its final recommendations.

The White House is also developing strategies to navigate the rocky and emotionally fraught terrain of gun politics once final policy decisions are made. The administration is quietly talking with a diverse array of interest groups, including religious leaders, mental-health professionals and hunters, to build as broad a coalition as possible, those involved in the discussions said.

The president is expected to face fierce opposition from the NRA and its allies in Congress, including most Republicans and some Democrats.

But Biden signaled to those involved in the policy discussions that the White House is not afraid of taking on the NRA, the nation’s largest gun rights group. At the Dec. 20 meeting, according to Stanek, when one law enforcement leader suggested focusing on only the most popular proposals, Biden responded: “Look, what I’m asking you for is your candid opinion and ideas about extreme gun violence. Leave the politics to the president. That’s our job with Congress.”

NRA officials declined a request for comment. In response to the shooting in Newtown, Wayne LaPierre, the group’s executive vice president, called for installing armed police officers in every school.

“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” LaPierre said at a news conference Dec. 21.

One potential strategy would be to win support for specific measures from interest groups that are normally aligned with the NRA, according to one person who works closely with the administration on gun-related issues and who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the issue’s sensitivity.

For instance, this person suggested, Wal-Mart and other major gun retailers may have an incentive to support closing a loophole that allows people to bypass background checks if they purchase firearms at gun shows or through other types of private sales. That could result in more people buying guns in retail stores.

Timing is imperative

Obama’s advisers have calculated that the longer they wait, the more distance there is from the Newtown massacre and the greater the risk that the bipartisan political will to tackle gun violence will dissipate.

“This is not something that I will be putting off,” Obama said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview broadcast last Sunday.

At the White House meeting, Stanek said, “the vice president indicated that there was a very short timeline for him to get back to the president with his recommendations because the American public has a short memory.”

Already, three weeks after the Newtown shooting, gun-control advocates are growing impatient with a legislative process that is just beginning.

“As we get involved in these ad nauseam debates over the Second Amendment, our children are still at risk,” said Jon Adler, national president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association. “Debating is not the action verb we need to protect our children.”

With the start of the 113th Congress last week, several lawmakers filed bills to address gun violence. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who co-wrote a 1994 assault-weapons ban that expired in 2004, plans to introduce legislation this month that would ban the sale or manufacture of about 120 firearms, including semiautomatic rifles and military-style handguns, as well as ammunition magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds.

The expired federal assault-weapons ban prohibited the manufacturing of 19 models of semiautomatic guns classified as assault weapons, including certain rifles and shot guns. The law also banned ammunition magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. But it did not ban the sale of previously manufactured assault weapons or high-capacity magazines.

Since the law’s sunset, efforts in Congress over the past decade to reinstate the ban have faced stiff opposition from the NRA and the firearms industry and have never passed.

Adler, who has submitted recommendations to Biden’s group, said he has told administration officials that they need to pursue multiple measures to increase their chances of success.

“We can’t put all our protection-effort eggs in one basket with one piece of legislation,” he said. “We’ve got to do more than that.”
