Does Anna Baltzer legally exist?
9 February 2013: Catch Me If You Can refers to the 2002 movie directed by Steven Spielberg. It’s based on the true story of a man named Frank Abagnale. Well, that was his given name at birth. It was his actual name, except when he changed it to advance certain agendas. In the case of the movie, it was to advance various cons he was running, and he was extremely convincing and very good at what he did. Frank Abagnale, Jr. successfully used different identities to impersonate an airline pilot, doctor, and assistant attorney general for personal gain, cashing more than $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in 26 countries.
I’m certainly not comparing Frank Abagnale, Jr. to Anna Baltzer, the pro-Palestinian activist, speaker and author, but during an extensive investigation into the true identity of Anna Baltzer conducted with the assistance of Douglas Hagmann, a 30 year veteran investigator who has performed numerous background investigations during his career, I simply could not get that movie out of my head.
Who is Anna Baltzer?
Just who is Anna Baltzer? After reviewing the extensive background documentation generated by our most recent investigation, that’s a question we still have not been able to answer to our satisfaction. Simply stated and based on an extensive investigation, it would appear that Anna Baltzer does not legally exist, at least not as associated with the public figure known by that name.
To bring people who might be unfamiliar with Anna Baltzer up to speed, here’s a brief summary. You might know the 33 year-old Anna Baltzer as the operator of the pro-Palestinian website A Witness in Palestine. You might know her as the author of the book Witness in Palestine: A Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories. You might know her from her appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart or any of her 100 television appearances. Or, you might know her from her from her 400 speaking engagements at universities, schools, churches, mosques, and synagogues across the U.S., the UK and throughout Europe, talking passionately about alleged atrocities against the Palestinians at the hands of Israel.
Anna Baltzer claims to be a Jew who took a backpack trip through the Middle East in 2003, meeting and talking to various displaced Palestinians, documenting their accounts of how they were displaced and mistreated by the nation of Israel. Various biographical accounts note her claims that her grandparents were Holocaust survivors, but more recent accounts were changed to note that only one of her grandparents may have been in the Nazi death camps. However, research into her background failed to document either account, and Ms. Baltzer has yet to provide proof that any of her ancestors were actually in the death camps during the Holocaust. Yet, she suggests the Holocaust as a very effective sound bite as she speaks before Christian audiences. Being the descendent of Holocaust survivors apparently provides legitimacy to the Palestinian propaganda claim that Israel and the Jews are the new Nazis.
Anna Baltzer is also the head of the “US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation” in Washington, D.C. You might be more familiar with this organization by its former name, the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). The name was changed from the ISM for lobbying Congress and other reasons. The U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation was created by Huwaida Arraf, a co-founder of the ISM. As an aside, Huwaida Arraf served as a human shield on behalf of Arab terrorists in 2002. Arraf ran inside the Church of the Nativity with other ISM activists carrying supplies and as human shields, after terrorists overran the Church, taking the church and its priests hostage.
An investigation also determined that Anna Baltzer associates with Medea Benjamin‘s Code Pink and Global Exchange, urging boycotts against the Jews in order to starve them out of the Middle East.
I’ve written extensively about Anna Baltzer, most recently describing what I called her “campaign of fabrication” based on unanswered questions about her background in the wake of her appearances at Oxford University and the University of Sussex. It was during my inquiries about her claims of being a Fulbright Scholar that I was informed that Anna Baltzer is also known as Anna Piller, so my attempt to verify her status as a Fulbright Scholar under Anna Baltzer was misguided, according to Baltzer’s supporters. So, I set out to correct the record. What I found, however, was more than I anticipated.
No such person?
As it turns out, Anna Baltzer is also known as Anna Piller, according to a conveniently timed and recently updated Wikipedia entry. And yes, Anna Piller does indeed have an association with Fulbright, but not as a scholar – as a teacher’s assistant. Anna Piller apparently received funding from Fulbright to teach English in Turkey under an English language program, but no evidence was found to suggest that she ever received a Fulbright Scholarship under either surname.
However, the inconsistencies don’t stop there.
At this point, we’ve established that Anna Baltzer is also known as Anna Judith Piller, 33, and associates with some decidedly anti-Israel and anti-Jewish groups. She travels all over the U.S. and Europe and speaks under the identity of Anna Baltzer. She even accepts monetary donations under the name Anna Baltzer at a St. Louis, MO post office box via her web site (as shown at left). During our investigation, however, we found something that we are unable to reconcile with her public persona based on information obtained from proprietary databases:Anna Baltzer does not appear to legally exist, at least not as an alternate legal surname for Anna Piller.
Anna Judith Piller, 33, is the legal name associated with the persona of Anna Baltzer, the author, public speaker, and de facto head of the “US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation.”Nowhere in any of the proprietary database records exists any apparent connection whatsoever between Anna J. Piller and Anna Baltzer.
To be as thorough and exhaustive as possible and to rule out any errors, we conducted a complete search on the name Anna Baltzer, calling up anyone with the name Anna Baltzer (alive and deceased) in the United States. After sifting through about two dozen data entries, we found no person legally using the name Anna Baltzer with the same (or similar) date of birth or other identifying information that can be associated with Anna Judith Piller.
Based on these findings, one might reasonably and justifiably question just who is cashing the checks sent to Anna Baltzer being solicited through the web site A Witness in Palestine – checks made payable to Anna Baltzer.
Additionally, we found yet another alias, or a completely different name associated with Anna Judith Piller: Carrolle Corsuy. Initially believed to be an erroneous artifact of the various database services used during the course of this investigation, we conducted a thorough search on that name as well.
Information developed from our research and investigation found the person known as Carrolle Corsuy possesses the exact date of birth and other identifying information, including a historical listing of addresses as Anna Judith Piller. Based on an analysis of this information, it appears that Anna Judith Piller is also known as Carrolle Corsuy, yet neither name appears to have any link to Anna Baltzer. Baltzer has used this name listing Anna Piller as an alias since December 1998.
Baltzer also claims to have married Joshua Nardie and accordingly, could legitimately use that surname or a hyphenated version of the same. Research and investigation found no instance of Anna Baltzer, Anna Piller, or even Carrolle Corsuy using the married surname.
So now we are left with a number of questions about the legal and legitimate use of the name Anna Baltzer by 33 year-old Anna Judith Piller – or is it Carrolle Corsuy? or even Anna Nardie, perhaps? If there are legitimate explanations for these apparent irregularities, I’m anxious to receive them.
Perhaps these are the questions that should be asked by the Middle East committee of theWomen’s International League for Peace & Freedom, the Board of Directors of The Research Journalism Institute, Grassroots Jerusalem, and Council for the National Interest – all entities served in some manner by Anna Baltzer – as well as all of the churches, universities and other entities that invite “Anna Baltzer” to speak. If she can’t even tell the truth about her own name, how believable is she when lecturing about her so-called claims of “human rights” abuses by Israel?
Of more importance is if Anna Baltzer is depositing checks made out to an Anna Baltzer if that is not her, as well as the solicitation of funds at her speaking venues. I’m a great grandmother in Canada and I read your posts every day. It’s amazing that you have such stamina and I encourage you in your extremely valuable work. This is not an easy thing that you do. I love the country of Israel and know that there is a constant battle for survival. I think we all need to begin speaking about the other occupation. The Arabs/Muslims are occupying Judea/Sumaria… when are they going to leave?
Bless you for all that you do on behalf of your country and people. I visited Israel many years ago when it was still possible to tour the West Bank. It is a miracle country, and it will survive, despite all the wolves at the borders.

Whether many refuse to deny their five senses or not, the sad fact that a great deal of antisemitism, Maxist/Progressive/ Trans-national agitprop support comes from radical, atheist, Reformed, Jews. This is so tragic, ugly, and incomprehensible. What is wrong with these people? That so many are Marxist oriented today almost implies a genetic anomaly. How could anybody chose Abe Foxman over Dennis Prager?
The pragmatic side is, that if this contingent wants to destroy themselves (suicide), then have at it, but don’t take the rest of us down with you.
While it is decidedly true that leftist Jews come from a certain segment of the “tribe”, it is also the case, that many of their helpmates are leftist Christians. They hail from so called liberal Churches, calling themselves progressive and “human rights” activists.
Each must be outed, and held to account. Their tango is not a lone dance.
Oh, Adina, I know this well. My come from Greek ancestry and my Father fought against a Communist takeover after WWII in Greece as an intelligence officer in the US Army. They kidnapped children from villages, killed their parents, and took them away for brainwashing. They would have made Greece into a satellite state, and Iron Curtain country. They would have attempted to subjugate or eliminate the Orthodox Church. They murdered and sold out their own country.
I made a decision years ago that I would consider any Greek who supported the Communist Party in Greece, ever, as an enemy of mine and not worth the time to spit in his face. In fact, most Greeks in Greece are too stupid to have a country or even deserve one. I have more in common with Conservatives Black, Brown, Jewish, etc, etc, than I would these monkeys.
