One measure of a person’s sanity – as well as their rationality – is how much stock they take in their survival (as well as that of their loved ones), even if the odds are not in their favor.
So, what conclusions can be drawn about an otherwise highly intelligent (successful too, for the most part) group of people who have been persecuted more times than most folks want to think about – with nary a time in history when their persecution wasn’t the “norm” – yet their main litmus test for leadership depends upon which candidate supports abortion?
Never mind that abortion is an extraordinarily hot button issue, fraught with more minefields than can possibly be counted in any given war-torn country, and it will remain this way long after most of us are dead and buried.
And despite the fact that the actual “science is clear that human life begins at conception when a new human being is formed; and in Roe v Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decided it could not ‘resolve the difficult question of when life begins’ – and on the basis of the unresolved question, declared a new ‘right to abortion’ based on a ‘right to privacy’ “- nevertheless, within their ‘holier than thou’ sphere, the science is not nearly enough !
Talk about twisting the law – and ones ideological paragons – into prescribed (political) knots !
Yet still, place all the above logic (even the twisted part) to the side, and we are reflexively faced with leftist Jews who worship the “right” to abortion, above and beyond other compelling life and death issues. Inconceivably, many of these abortion-obsessed Jews “earn like Episcopalians, and vote like Puerto Ricans” – no offense to my Hispanic/Spanish friends !
Milton Himmelfarb, a trenchant sociographer of the American Jewish community knew his terrain. He was spot on….and his observations are as apt today, as they were when initially observed decades ago.
As always, Daniel Greenfield aka Sultan Knish cuts to the heart of the matter, performing the heavy lifting for many. In ‘Suicide As A Jewish Value’ he dissects their underbelly, leaving many leftist Jews exposed as the (ideological) fools/tools that they are.
“A month ago, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz sat down with the host of a Jewish television channel and could not name any reason for Jews to vote for Obama except for his support for abortion. Which is to say that the favorite muppet of the Democratic Party could not think of any reason to support B.O. except a mutual commitment that fewer Jews be born.”
“It is a little-known fact that Margaret Sanger, that pioneer of eugenic solutions to “racial, political, and social problems”, began by targeting Jews, opening her first center in Brownsville, Brooklyn, complete with Yiddish and Italian flyers, aiming for the two immigrant groups whose high reproduction rates were considered a social problem.”
“Abortion as a Liberal Jewish value has been a stunning success. In New York City, where Sanger first set up shop, 74 percent of all Jewish children are members of the traditionalist Orthodox religious group. Liberal Jews are already panicking over the prospect of a future Jewish population in New York City that is staunchly conservative and religious.”
“A recent survey of New York City Jews also shows a nearly even split between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. 46 percent of New York Jews are planning to vote against Obama, and a majority of New York City Jews think that Romney would be better at fixing the economy than B.O. But it is only to be expected that the group for whom abortion isn’t a Jewish value would come to outnumber the group for whom abortion is a Jewish value.”
“The problem with values is that you have to live with their consequences. When your values dictate that terrorists deserve all the protections of the civilian justice system, then you have to be ready to live with the explosions. If your values dictate minimal population growth, then you have to accept the consequences of extinction. Values that are contrary to survival carry their own natural cost. And when your values are at odds with your interests, then your values might as well be an open window, a loaded revolver or a dose of strychnine.”
“Liberal Jews like to talk about Jewish values rather than Jewish interests, because their values are incompatible with Jewish interests– even as a matter of simple survival. “Illegal immigration, a cause that virtually every major Jewish organization has signed on to, means the mass migration of Mexicans to the United States. The ADL’s own survey shows that nearly half of foreign-born Latinos rate as strongly Anti-Semitic, over three times the rate of white Americans. (Bad news for the glorious civil rights alliance; the ADL’s strongly antisemitic ratings are 12 percent for white Americans, 35 percent for African-Americans and 44 percent for foreign-born Latinos.) The only way to make sense of this is that Liberal Jewish groups believe that increasing Anti-Semitism in America is actually a Jewish value.”
“But liberals of all creeds need more Mexican illegal aliens and immigrants from all across the Third World to compensate for the good work of Sanger. Liberal Christians fear the reproduction rates of Conservative Christians as Liberal Jews fear the reproduction rates of Orthodox Jews. The only way out of the demographic race is to import “ringers” who will have the children that they won’t. The new eugenics is political eugenics. Birth control is no longer for the people that Sanger considered the “unfit”, they’re valued now for their reproductive rates which help the “fit” stay in power.”
“Growing Anti-Semitism is a small price to pay for the Liberal values of having people like Debbie Wasserman-Schultz sitting in Congress instead of selling tie-dyed t-shirts and hand-painted seashell bongs in a flea market. And like all the wages of liberalism, the price for it isn’t paid by the people on top, but by those at the bottom. Those Jews living next to the 44 percent in New York City or on farms in the West Bank within firing range of their Palestinian Muslim peace partners. The Jews whom Sanger and Schultz consider “unfit”.

Excellent article… and another illustration of how those who espouse the liberal ’cause’ will ultimately find themselves impaled on the horns of at least one dilemma.

Writing said truths is an exercise in heart break, surely few would suggest otherwise. Regardless, perilous times call for stark truth telling.
It is what it is.
While to me, as a religious Jew, abortion (getting rid of most of it) is my first priority, I do not think the Jewish community in the US is highly affected by it. I recall many, many years ago a small pie chart showing that Catholics had the most abortions, and Jews the least. I assume this is due to use of contraception. Given this and the fact that Judaism occasionally (but rarely) permits and (when the mother’s life is in danger) even requires abortion, it would seem in the American Jewish interest, narrowly defined, to support it. It is the “liberal” (small “L”) in me that so strongly opposes it, for the sake of the Gentile piopulation.
In Israel, however, we aguably would not even have a “Demographic problem” – to the extent that such a problem is real) if it was not for abortion. Sadly, the issue is not even on the table.
As to Jewish law – halacha- you are indeed correct. A mother’s (medically endangered) life always takes precedence, therefore, an abortion is permissible/sanctioned when such is the case. However, this is not the issue most Jewish liberals are wed to. They want unfettered abortion, regardless of the circumstances, simply as a catch all for birth control. Incredible.
As to Israel, the Jewish abortion mill runs on warped speed. The notion of adoption is barely on their radar, as such, they are indeed aping their counterparts in the US.
Jews are often their own worst enemies!

After reading your comment about the Jewish abortion mills in Israel, as a Christian who has always supported and believed in the warning from God to protect His chosen people, I will say that to learn of the abortion preference by so many Jews, it is disheartening. Understanding my previous ignorance on the subject abortion and their support of the practice, to be enlightened is once again, disheartening. Knowing the only reason Wasserman-Schultz could present to Jews to support Obama was his support of abortion leaves me with a sad heart because of what is now an almost “fairy tale” belief in the American Jewish and indeed, the Jewish state of Israel.
It is my intent to remain a supporter of Israel and to continue to offer prayers for God’s chosen people but to learn one of their main issues of concern is whether a candidate is a supporter of abortion is a thorn in my side that won’t be ignored.

You need to understand, when I refer to Jewish abortion in Israel, I am referring to the secular population, and only a fraction of it too. The ‘mills’ are not akin to what is found in the U.S., but the fact that abortion exists at all – except in cases of incest, rape or the health of the mother – is most troublesome.
In addition, the leadership, as it stands, is a mirror image of the west. However, what is also the case is that as a Jew in Israel – whether secular or not – the feeling one gets here is like none other.
There is no doubt that the presence of G-d is everywhere. One cannot go into the city of Jerusalem, as well as other cities, and not feel connected as a people. It is indescribable.
There is a whole lot more to Israel than meets the eye, and if you want to understand the mentality of the Jewish people, I refer you to ‘The Oslo Syndrome:Delusions of a People Under Siege’ by Dr Kenneth Levin, a Harvard & Princeton educated psychiatrist – but don’t hold that against him!!
He explains the heretofore inexplicable.
Thank you for your reply, it is a relief to have my impression corrected. It was my genuine pleasure to have had the opportunity many years ago to work in the Middle East. Much to my regret, it was not in Israel but Dubai. What I did find out from the many people I met while in Dubai and my travels throughout the Emirates was that when the Islamic fervor mongers were not around, the people “on the street” did not hold the same degree of dislike or hatred of Jews or Israelites. If accurate, based on what I was told by a person close to Sheik Rashid, the ruler of Dubai at the time, is that there were approximately 30 to 40 thousand Israeli citizens working in the Emirates but it was something not widely broadcast for obvious reasons.
But you are right about the feeling of history and connection. Just being in close proximity to the land of God’s chosen people and to walk through an oasis that was well over a thousand years old and to see segments of Roman aquaducts still being used along with other remnants of our biblical heritage was amazing.
But, alas, it is my fear and concern that the person who occupies the White House and has no real connection to America will have a very negative impact on the nation when it comes to our support of Israel. I made it a point to read his first book, Dreams from my Father. Along with the book and observing the man over the past four years has only confirmed what my impression and conclusion was when I finished the book. How America could not see through his still amazes me and being an older person, over my lifetime, there have been only a few occasions when I have had a visceral, physical negative reaction to an individual. Not once have I been wrong and I have had the same reaction to Obama several times.
On another FWIW anecdote, my former business partner was Jewish. He was like a second father to me but unfortunately, he was not a very dedicated Jew but not secular either. His family were mostly secular but Lou and I talked about his Jewish beliefs several times and it is my fervent hope that at the end, he rededicated himself to his Jewish beliefs.
It is Monday morning here and time to go to work. I look forward to many more exchanges and being from one of the “backward” states, South Carolina, while the state is always portrayed as being populated with ignorant, backward, neanderthal knuckle draggers, overall the population of the state is pretty well educated but fiercely independent. Perception and reality are different things until propaganda usurps reality and perception becomes the new reality. Racism is not as rampant as one may be led to believe and our ability to work across all lines is not inhibited by our past. Unfortunately, the ignorance factor that is perpetrated by the few becomes the impression and portrait of a state of good people.
