Outgoing officials often offer up “gifts” of sorts, however, the citizens have to recognize them for what they are. Priceless.

On the one hand, a double-edged sword may arise, one which must be calibrated for future use. By listening to another’s words carefully, especially that of a very high ranking official, treasure troves can be gleaned. But you gotta keep your ears attuned. This is no conspiracy talk. It is common sense-based, coupled with a good measure of knowledge.

So, where does departing CIA Director, Leon Panetta, fit in – parting “gifts” and all?

During the presidential primary campaign of 2008, a central debate issue was who was more qualified to answer that 3am phone call as president. Barack or Hillary? Based on Senate testimony given by Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta about the Benghazi attacks on 9/11, neither Barack nor Hillary is qualified.

These are really fascinating admissions. In the first video, Panetta tells Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) that neither he nor Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff never communicated with the President once it became known that Ambassador Stevens had been killed. Former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed several hours later.

Here is Republican Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) asking both Panetta and Dempsey about what they discussed with Hillary Clinton between the first attack on the consulate that killed Stevens and the later attack on the CIA Annex that killed Woods and Doherty.

Their responses? Uh, we didn’t talk with Clinton at all.

If Panetta and Dempsey were telling the truth, it’s a shocking reality. If they were untruthful, what really happened must be far worse.”

The upshot is real clear, and the utterances come straight from the Director’s mouth: if Panetta’s testimony IS truthful, then Obama & gang not only dropped the ball, but were derelict in the extreme. A VERY grave matter.

On the other hand, if his lips were less than truthful, then what we really think happened was barely the cusp. In other words, Federal pens should be the least of their punishment. 

NOT to continue digging would be a national travesty, regardless of party affiliation and ideological leanings. For if truth no longer matters, then everything else is meaningless. Lost. Gone. Kaput.

Those of us blessed to have children – sons or daughters, or a combination of both – understand what it feels like to be stonewalled. Whether they are in grade school, high school, studying at university or totally flown from the coop, parents (especially moms…and Jewish ones at that!) have a visceral ‘need to know’.

But those who learn their lessons well also know when the time has come to mind their own business, thereby, keeping parental noses clear of matters no longer within their purview. And parents who are especially astute also recognize their offspring’s signals, understanding which topics are truly off limits. Yours truly has been down that road, more times than she cares to admit to.

So, where is the connection between family intrigues and Hill’s part in Benghazigate with all its attendant twists and turns? Closer than you can imagine.

The brazen lengths which Hill has gone to – to keep herself immunized/neutralized from Benghazigate – are beyond any parent’s wildest imagination, even the most ‘creative’ types who also cross many boundaries to satisfy their ‘need to know’. But the Sec of State doesn’t have the luxury of NOT spilling the beans, as she is accountable to ‘The People’, unlike ones children who are ultimately accountable to themselves, especially when grown.

And not unlike little children who swear up and down that their sticky fingers haven’t been in the cookie jar – yet the evidence is smeared all over their adorable faces – Hill can’t get a ‘sick’ note, thus claiming this or that belly ache. For crying out loud. Fess up.

Yet this blogger understands very well why she is punting every which way, hoping to escape her punishment, alongside her wayward, criminal-bent boss.

‘Hillary’s fortuitous fall from her Benghazi Stonewall’

The alleged fainting spell and subsequent concussion of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appears a bit fortuitous, if not downright suspicious when factoring in all of her stonewalling and obfuscation to this point.

It all started on September 16th, when U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice – instead of Hillary – appeared on five Sunday talk shows to give demonstrably false information about the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. Rice said in an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams that the reason Hillary ‘declined to do it’was because the Secretary of State was too tired after a ‘grueling week’.

On November 30th, when Hillary was asked why Rice appeared on those shows instead of her, the Secretary of State responded that she wouldn’t answer a “hypothetical” about what could have happened.

No, she really said that (at the :37 mark):

Even MSNBC’s resident RINO, Joe Scarborough could see right through this one. Start watching at the 2:40 mark when the Morning Joe Crew airs a snippet of Rice’s interview with Williams but pay more attention to Scarborough’s reaction afterward. He is convinced that the reason Hillary didn’t do those shows was because of a political calculation, not because of fatigue.

On October 2nd, the House Oversight Committee sent Hillary a letter asking for answers about why requests for security at the Benghazi consulate were ignored. Her response?

Ignore the letter.

On November 1st, the House Oversight Committee sent Hillary another letter,asking about documents that had come into the possession of the Committee which showed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and officials at the consulate were very concerned about their security on the day of the attack. Her response?

In early November, it was reported that Hillary declined to appear before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the 15th of that month because she would be in Australia.

Via PJM:

“She was asked to appear at House Foreign Affairs next week, and we have written back to the chairman to say that she’ll be on travel next week,” said department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland. She did not answer a question about whether Clinton would be willing to fly back from Australia to address either the Foreign Affairs panel or the Senate and House closed-door intelligence committee hearings getting to the root of the Benghazi scandal.

On December 10th, it was reported that Hillary would be canceling her trip to the Middle East due to a stomach virus. Three days later, it was reported early in the day that she would be testifying in front of the Senate and House foreign relations committee on December 20th. Later in the day, it appeared that Clinton was backing away from testifying because the Accountability Review Board (ARB) had not completed its report and probably wouldn’t by the 20th.

Via Foreign Policy:

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said today that the ARB is not complete, might not be complete by Dec. 20, and Clinton has not agreed to testify on Dec. 20.

“The Hill has talked about a planning date on the calendar. That presumes that the ARB is finished,” Nuland said. “That’s dependent on all of the work getting done between now and then… The ARB is continuing to do its work, to my knowledge it has not yet completed its work.”

Clinton has agreed to brief the House and Senate foreign relations committees on how she interprets the ARB report, whenever it surfaces.

In the wake of this equivocating, pressure was no doubt applied to the State Department by committee members. For one thing, they announced that Hillary would testify because the date was on the State Department’s calendar. For another thing, committee members insisted that they have access to the ARB report despite Nuland’s claims that all Hillary could agree to was to include Congress in her response to the ARB report. None of that includes how frustrated many committee members are by how long Clinton and the State Department have been stonewalling.

Then, on the morning of December 15th, Hillary faints as a consequence of her stomach virus and gets a concussion.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won’t testify to Congress next week on Benghazi, after fainting and suffering a concussion Saturday and due to her ongoing stomach ailment.

“While suffering from a stomach virus, Secretary Clinton became dehydrated and fainted, sustaining a concussion,” Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philippe Reines said in a statement. “She has been recovering at home and will continue to be monitored regularly by her doctors. At their recommendation, she will continue to work from home next week, staying in regular contact with Department and other officials. She is looking forward to being back in the office soon.”

Deputy Secretaries of State Bill Burns and Tom Nides will both testify in Clinton’s place, according to the office of Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA).

Note how suddenly the readiness of the ARB report is no longer an issue. Bill Burns and Tom Nides are about to assume the same position that Susan Rice did on September 16th and isn’t it interesting that they’ll apparently be doing it whether the ARB report is completed or not.

One day before Clinton’s fortuitous fall, Fox News’ Chris Stirewalt wrote the following:

Clinton can hardly leave her post before a replacement is confirmed, so her goal is to keep the Benghazi business from damaging her valedictory weeks at Foggy Bottom.

It’s a tricky task, but as Rice learned and Obama has been taught again, Clinton is not someone to be underestimated.

Perhaps, but  a concussion caused by passing out from a stomach virus days before she was set to testify?!

Before sending Rice out to do the talking, Hillary was apparently too tired to do it herself. Now, before sending Burns and Nides out to do the talking, she has a virus that caused her to fall on her head.

One thing should be very, very obvious. Hillary Clinton does not want to talk about Benghazi.

Even a broken clock is right once, as such, the New York Times is tentatively/gingerly jumping aboard one such truth meter. But hell will undoubtedly freeze over before most of the media’s whores – deeply embedded in Obama’s pockets – hold the Pyromaniac’s feet to the fire. Instead of ‘yes, we can’ they prefer ‘no, we can’t! And this blogger asks: why the heck not?

Their linkage is much more sinister than the morphing of a toady media – much more. Their lock-step roots go back to their (mis)schooling days in America’s journalism schools – affectionately dubbed ‘J-school’ – which are part and parcel of their associated university campuses. And Columbia U’s J-school is one of the worst malefactors…and it is not for nothing its umbrella nickname (by thinking folks) is Bir-Zeit-on-the-Hudson. Vomit.

Besides, leftist academia is beyond redemption, as demonstrated throughout too many examples to wish away.

‘Obama Arms The Enemy Again’ – Western Center For Journalism

“In a rare moment of journalism, the New York Times reported that the Obama Administration secretly encouraged Arab countries to ship arms to rebel forces in Libya during the rebellion to oust longtime dictator Muammar Qaddafi. The arms were provided to the rebels and Islamic extremists with links to al Qaeda in a Muslim Brotherhood-sponsored insurrection to turn the oil-rich African nation into an Islamic republic.

The flow of weapons and supplies from al Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (with the help of the Administration-lead NATO airstrikes) overwhelmed the Libyan military and brought about the fall of the Qaddafi regime. Militant groups were well-armed and provided a viable threat to the current government of Libya and everyone else in the embattled nation. The unstable situation on the ground in Libya may very well repeat itself  in Syria, given the way events are unfolding. The current situation on the ground in Libya, Egypt, and now Syria is an indication that the Arab Spring movement touted by Barack Obama is turning out to be a miserable failure.

The Obama White House encouraged al Qatar and United Arab Emirates to arm the Libyan rebels and the Islamic extremists. Later, the President complained that the movement of arms was not coordinated with the White House to monitor who received the shipments of arms.  In war and disaster zones, proper logistics of equipment distribution never work as planned. To date, no administration has learned that simple lesson despite clear evidence of the truth, media rosy pictures notwithstanding.

The extremists were provided small arms; and as long as the press never reported it, no one was the wiser. The fact is Barack Obama encouraged Arab countries to arm al Qaeda in Libya and had the nerve to insist that the Emir of Qatar be transparent about his country’s involvement in Libya.

The al Qaeda-linked militants were well armed during the 7 hour siege of Benghazi; yet no one “knows” where the weapons came from? During the effort to remove Colonel Qaddafi from power, the Obama Administration and the CIA weren’t too concerned who received arms, as long as the Islamists were loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood. By the way, if you didn’t know, the Mein Kampf-inspired Muslim Brotherhood just happens to be the parent organization of al Qaeda.”

How did Washington become the best friend of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, even as President Mohamed Morsi was asserting dictatorial powers and his followers were beating up secular liberals in the streets of Cairo? It’s a question many Arabs ask these days, and it deserves an answer.

That faint glimmer of hope one might have that Ignatius is at least seeing the light, begins to flicker in the next paragraph:

Morsi and his Brotherhood followers are on a power trip after decades of isolation and persecution. You could see that newfound status when Morsi visited the United Nations in September and even more so during the diplomacy that led to last month’s cease-fire in Gaza, brokered by Morsi and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The Brotherhood leaders had gone from outcasts to superstars, and they were basking in the attention.

Isolation and persecution? Gee, David, do you think it’s possible that the problems might have been with the Brotherhood to begin with? You know, considering their goal has been an Islamic caliphate since their inception.

And let’s be honest: The Obama administration has been Morsi’s main enabler. U.S. officials have worked closely with him on economic development and regional diplomacy. Visiting Washington last week,Morsi’s top aides were touting their boss’s close contacts with President Obama and describing phone calls between the two leaders that led to the Gaza cease-fire.

Morsi’s unlikely role as a peacemaker is the upside of the “cosmic wager” Obama has made on the Muslim Brotherhood. It illustrates why the administration was wise to keep its channels open over the past year of post-revolutionary jockeying in Egypt.

But power corrupts, and this is as true with the Muslim Brotherhood as with any other group that suddenly finds itself in the driver’s seat after decades of ostracism. Probably thinking he had America’s backing, Morsi overreached on Nov. 22 by declaring that his presidential decrees were not subject to judicial review. His followers claim that he was trying to protect Egypt’s revolution from judges appointed by Hosni Mubarak. But that rationale has worn thin as members of Morsi’s government resigned in protest, thousands of demonstrators took the streets and, ominously, Muslim Brotherhood supporters began counterattacking with rocks, clubs and metal pipes.

While it’s good that Ignatius is admitting that Obama is enabling Morsi, the former’s attempt to make lemonade out of some really sour lemons fails miserably. You see, when one applies Ignatius’ logic to Obama’s decision to cozy up to Morsi, that decision was the result of wisdom on the part of the administration after the fall of Mubarak. Uh, David, the Obama administration helped to facilitate the fall of Mubarak!

That part about Morsi being a “peacemaker” having an “upside” proves that Ignatius is nowhere close to understanding the situation.

Just when you think a liberal is ready to confront reality before it completely smacks him down, he manages to find a little more pride.

They just can’t admit when they’re wrong.
