Purim During Wartime + Its Nexus to NYPD Homicide Detective, First Grade, Mordecai (Morty) Dzikansky, of Blessed Memory

From time immemorial, in good times and in bad, Jews make sure to celebrate the marking of each holiday affixed onto the Jewish calendar. As such, with Purim during wartime, the merriment of this joyous day was tempered by restrictions imposed due to security concerns. Inexorably, the barbaric Islamic jihadi onslaught perpetrated on October 7, 2023 is still ongoing, and, frankly, with no end in sight.
With the above in the forefront, for countless families whose loved ones have been slaughtered – while others are experiencing the mental torture of knowing, and not knowing, what said monsters are inflicting upon their nearest and dearest, as hostages in captivity – there is nothing to ease their pain. Still, life must go on – for the benefit of the living, and, in no small measure, to poke a finger in the eyes towards those who wish for nothing more than to break the Jewish soul and spirit.
In this respect, and regardless of all else, the macro and the micro have a way of intersecting. Such is the personal case for this writer, as evidenced at Israel National News on March 19, 2022.
As excerpted within:

Who was anti-terror agent NYPD Det. Mordecai Zev Dzikansky z”l?

It is with a broken heart and deep sadness that this writer announces the sudden death of a loving brother, Mordecai Zev Dzikansky, z”l, a/k/a Morty, NYPD Homicide Detective, First Grade (Purim, March 17, 2022, 14 Adar II).
Dubbed ‘Terrorist Cop‘, his heroic and life-saving missions spanned the globe. They ranged from NYC; to Israel; to Russia; to Spain; to Turkey; to Egypt, and beyond. Basically, wherever Islamic jihad reared its head and exploded, Detective Dzikansky, z”l, was called upon to gather Intel and relay it back, post haste, to former NYPD Police Commissioner Kelly, as well as to former Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism, David Cohen, and John Miller, current Commissioner. A synopsis of said heroism was featured at Arutz Sheva, Israel National News, 12/21/21 – used as a piggy-back article, as requested, to the recent rise of another Jewish cop who climbed the ranks of the NYPD to an integral position. No doubt, my brother was a trailblazer.
Officially posted to Israel for several years (2003-2007), he was the “eyes and ears” of the NYPD – after the horrific attacks on September 11, 2001 rocked America and the western world. Due to his stellar ability to quietly gather Intel and navigate within this most dangerous and murky jihadi cesspool, former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly entrusted him with the most highly classified and sensitive assignments. Its main thrust involved analyzing and relaying back active intelligence (in whatever stage of planning uncovered) at warp speed, that is, in order to thwart impending attacks within NYC.
At times, within this and that investigation, active knock-on blows were being prepped for another U.S. city, and, by happenstance, they came into focus. Of course, the proper agencies were immediately notified. Simply, he was on 24/7 call and never failed to deliver. In all honestly, not many can lay claim to said prowess in their respective careers.

…….

Not only that, but his loss reverberated throughout the walls and halls of the most distinguished among the world of policing and counter-terrorism – yes, capturing countless Islamic jihadi terrorists, most especially, before they had the chance to execute more innocents!
Of note, the following blessed tribute to Mordecai Zev Dzikansky, z”l, took place during the Intermediate Days (Chol Ha’Moed) of Succot 2023:
Atop all of that, it is more than fitting to link (one among countless interviews, as requested by the best of the best within the netherworld of NYPD/Israeli policing and counter-terrorism) a highly timely, intrinsically significant interview and discussion.
More specifially, it took place in the midst of the Fall of 2021, that is, in the aftermath of a (Summer) month-long missile/rocket blitzkrieg by the very same Islamic barbarians! Mind you, this go-around, a large percentage of Israeli Arabs executed an internal pogrom/Farhud against their Jewish neighbors, employers, and everyone in between. More than an eye-opener and a jaw-dropper.
Mordecai Dzikansky an expert in International terrorism, and gathering intelligence

Tragically, as is said, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Alas, with this year’s Purim celebration – despite all else – by taking joy in watching the beaming, shining faces of the many children who await the most anticipated holiday of the year, as they show off their costumes, outrageous as they may be, became paramount in importance!
Demonstrably, even young ones can be taught to understand the internal value of sharing and giving through specially prepared goodie bags (namely, Mishloach Manot) for Purim – most intrinsically, with others who are less fortunate.
Not to be forgotten, the less than young were uplifted by all of the Purim merriment throughout the day – as it carried on into the wee hours of the night.
L’Chaim, to one and all!!
