The truth is the situation here was terrible like the 1929 riots/pogroms. Arab rioters going crazy in the streets, they burned cars, at the entrances to buildings burning the electrical boxes, breaking the windows of the municipality, the museum, and many many stores. They completely burned down the preparatory school and the school next door. Families that fled their homes were looted. We slept that night under a table in an inner room and in the background screams, gunshots, explosions, sirens and next to the door we placed the fire extinguisher and pepper spray and the like. The street I live on is surrounded by Arabs (although from them I wasn’t fearful about at all). We called the police when we feared they were getting close, the answer given was that they can’t respond they are busy with other fights. That is the true fear that there is no one to protect us, and if we go outside then our lives are truly in danger feeling like sheep to the slaughter. Until in one of the whatsapp groups we understood the hilltop youth came to protect where there was no protection. Dozens of the men from Yizhar came to say we are here to protect you and they came and brought with them a fighting spirit and deterrence. They ran straight at the rioters without fear and one by one they retreated. They put out the car fires and they did what needed to be done that our people didn’t have the guts to do. And the kids were wonderful, explaining to them in an age appropriate way what was going on and telling them they are well protected as a family together hugging each other under the table. The kids are asking to pray psalms and this gives them strength.

Today the situation is relatively calm and there are police forces out and volunteers and the men from town.

What’s important is to show the whole world and in Israel the unvarnished truth and not according to what the media wants it to seem.
